**Taxi Strike Sparks Chaos in Major City—Passengers Left Stranded as Drivers Demand Higher Fares**

The streets of Metroville were a ghost town on Tuesday as taxis went on strike, leaving thousands of commuters stranded and businesses scrambling. The sudden walkout by drivers, who claim the city’s fare structure is outdated and unfair, has turned a routine Tuesday into a day of frustration and inconvenience.

Passengers who had planned their day around the reliability of taxis were left with no choice but to walk, take public transport, or risk hailing a ride from a rival service. The strike began after drivers, organized under the Metro Taxi Union, announced a 24-hour shutdown to push for a 30% fare hike. The union argues that fuel costs and wear-and-tear on vehicles justify the increase, but critics say it’s a desperate move to cover rising expenses.
