Taper Turning

Taper Turning

In simple linear turns, the cutting tool moves along a line parallel to the axis of the workpiece so that the finished workpieces always have the same diameter. However, when cuttings the taper, the tool will move at an angle relative to the workpiece’s axis, resulting in the taper.

Inversion of Double Slider Crank Mechanism: The name it self represent that it will have two sliding pairs and two turning pairs in the double slider crank chain. As you can see the above picture which is an example for the Double slider crank chain. In that, We have four elements (two sliding elements, one lever, slotted one base)

Watt Governor: Flywheel reduces the fluctuation of speed during the thermodynamic cycles, but it does not maintain a constant speed. Governor is a device to control the speed variation caused by the varying load. The working of a flywheel does not depend upon the change in load or output required.

Parts and Functions of Grinding Machine:A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is one of power tools or machine tools used for grinding, it is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts a small chip from the workpiece via shear deformation

Simple Indexing in Milling Machine:The difference between a Direct Index and an ETF or an Index Mutual Fund is that with a Direct Index the investor directly owns the underlying shares. The simplest Direct Index, at least conceptually, is a basket that contains all the securities in the underlying index.

Open Belt Drive And Cross Belt Drive: In open belt drive, the belt proceeds from the top of one pulley to the top of another pulley without crossing. In cross belt drive, the belt proceeds from the top of one pulley to the bottom of another pulley and thus crosses itself. Here the entire belt remains in same plane in every rotation.

Difference Between Girder and Beam: The main difference between a girder and a beam is the size of the component. In general, workers in the construction industry refer to large beams as girders. ... If it is the chief horizontal support in a structure, it is a girder, not a beam. If it is one of the smaller structural supports, it is a beam.

Application of Cotter Joint: It is used to connect piston rods in a crosshead in a steam engine. It is used to connect the piston rod with its extension. It is also used in bicycles to connect pedals to sprocket wheels.

Types of Riveted Joints: There are two main types of riveted joint: lap-joints and butt-joints(Fig. 16.33). In lap joints the components to be joined overlap each other, while for butt joints an additional piece of material is used to bridge the two components to be joined which are butted up against each other.

Principle of Autocollimator: The basic principle of an autocollimator is quite simple: one directs a collimated beam, which by definition has a small beam divergence, to a flat reflecting object (a mirror) and detects the angular position of the reflected light, which typically needs to be close to direct back-reflection.

Refrigeration System: Refrigerant flows through the compressor, which raises the pressure of the refrigerant. Next the refrigerant flows through the condenser, where it condenses from vapor form to liquid form, giving off heat in the process. The vaporized refrigerant goes back to the compressor to restart the cycle.

Vertical Boiler: A vertical boiler is a type of fire-tube or water-tube boiler where the boiler barrel is oriented vertically instead of the more common horizontal orientation. Vertical boilers were used for a variety of steam-powered vehicles and other mobile machines, including early steam locomotives.

Hydraulic Braking System: Hydraulic braking system is a type of braking system in which unlike the mechanical braking systemhydraulic fluid is used to transmit the brake pedal or brake lever force from the brake pedal or brake lever to the final drum shoes or disc caliper in order to achieve braking.

Pirani Gauge: The Pirani gauge measures the vacuum pressure dependent thermal conductivity from the heated wire to the surrounding gas. The heated Pirani sensor filament is typically made of a thin (<25 µm) Tungsten, Nickel or Platium wire. As gas molecules collide with the filament wire, heat is transported from the hot wire.

Scotch Yoke Mechanism: The Scotch Yoke (also known as slotted link mechanism) is a reciprocating motion mechanism, converting the linear motion of a slider into rotational motion, or vice versa. The piston or other reciprocating part is directly coupled to a sliding yoke with a slot that engages a pin on the rotating part.

Flame in Gas Welding: The three basic flames used for gas welding include neutral, carburizing, and oxidizing. The neutral flame burns cleanly and is used for most welding applications. Carbonizing flames are cooler and often used when working with steel or iron.
