Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate confirms Mileena is queer, more than 25 years after the character was first introduced.
Mileena, a mutant hybrid clone of the Edenian princess Kitana mixed with the blood of the savage, demonic Tarkata, was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II (1993).
Having originally been omitted from Mortal Kombat 11 after being killed off in a previous game – provoking fury from fans – she returns as part of the new Ultimate e dition with a new outlook.
Previously, Mileena has been intent on death and destruction, and to show up her sister Kitana. In the new game, Mileena returns from the past and finally gets her revenge in an unexpected, and super-queer way.
After beating Kronia, the keeper of time, Mileena rewrites history and becomes the perfect daughter to Emperor Shao Kahn and Queen Sindel, producing an heir with her lover Tanya.
The heartwarming (kinda) scene shows the pair cradling an infant, feeding it strips of human flesh as a corpse hangs upside down, like a twisted baby mobile.
Fans have speculated that Mileena and Tanya shared more than just a thirst for blood since the latter returned in Mortal Kombat X and was called “Mileena’s concubine”, and their relationship being made canon thrilled many.

Fans had hoped Kung Jin would return for Mortal Kombat 11 , urging game makers to give him a boyfriend.
Though that didn’t transpire – and the original release was devoid of LGBT+ characters – the new Ultimate edition (and the Kombat Pack 2 download, for those who already have the original 11 ) has finally given the community some much-needed representation, in the form of a half-demon clone, her evil lover and their flesh-eating child.

A NEWCASTLE woman who murdered her lesbian lover's de facto partner because she wanted him out of the way "permanently'' has been jailed for at least 17 years.
Tanya Louise Lane, 29, put her head in her hands and cried in the Supreme Court in Sydney on Friday as Justice Peter Hidden sentenced her to a maximum term of 22-and-a-half years for murdering Steven Quire in 2010.
Mr Quire's relatives held each other and wept as the sentence was handed down.
Lane initially denied murdering Mr Quire, whose remains were discovered in dense bushland at Watagan State Forest weeks after he disappeared and she stood trial last year.
The court heard evidence of a rocky love triangle, with Lane in a ``close, passionate and intimate relationship'' with Mr Quire's partner, Renae Burns.
However, the trial ground to a halt when fresh evidence came to light and Lane eventually pleaded guilty to murder in August this year.
``They pursued this relationship, perhaps not very successfully, in a clandestine manner,'' Justice Hidden said.
``They wanted to pursue this relationship without interference from (Mr Quire).''
The month before Mr Quire disappeared, Lane bought a flare gun that could be modified to operate as a shotgun before asking a friend if she could hide it in her roof.
Lane shot Mr Quire at close range in the chest in his Rutherford home around February 20, 2010 before his body was buried in the Watagan State Forest.
Justice Hidden said he was satisfied Lane participated in the disposal of Mr Quire's body, although he could not say to what extent.
Burns was jailed for being an accessary after Mr Quire's murder, on the grounds that she lied after he disappeared.
As his family and friends frantically searched for Mr Quire, who had previously overcome prostate cancer, Lane started telling increasingly bizarre tales, including that he had been killed by Comanchero bikies.
In a secretly recorded conversation with Mr Quire's sister, who was also her ex-girlfriend, Lane claimed Mr Quire had been involved in drug deals with Comanchero bikies and had ripped them off.
She said a ``short, fat dude'' and a ``real tall, stocky fella'' called on Mr Quire's door one night and before he disappeared Mr Quire was constantly ``looking over his shoulder''.
