Tallinn Music Week(pre-interview)

Paavli.LIVE is a stylistically and genre open concert series inspired by currents in contemporary experimental music and jazz, as well as hip hop and exploratory pop music. Their unifying element of TMW evening is the uniqueness of the performer and their music.

One such example is Ziferblat, one of Ukraine’s most promising new bands, whose artrock-like sound and cinematic performances have attracted wide attention. In 2025, they won Ukraine’s national selection for Eurovision with the song “Bird of Pray” and represented the country in the final, which was held in Switzerland.

We gave the band a TMW questionnaire to fill out to get to know them better!

— The first sign that you’ve been successful at something?

Hmm.. I actually don’t know, because in my opinion it’s not up to me to decide whether I’m successful or not. If you’ve helped someone with your work, then maybe you’ve already been successful in something.

The most underrated music genre or artist right now, and why does it deserve more attention?

I can’t really say anything about a genre, because it’s so different in every country. For example, in Ukraine, country music or funk is quite unpopular. I would like to mention one band that I started listening to about two years ago, maybe even less. Their name is Prefab Sprout. I know that it’s an old band, but they’re still so underrated. Please listen to them, it’s a very special group.

Something you liked to do in childhood but don’t do anymore?

Honestly, I studied international law quite thoroughly, but at the moment it no longer gives me any interest. I believe you can guess why that is so.

— Which type of Olympic sport could your music be?

Well, maybe tennis. First of all, I just like it. But secondly, I feel like we play a kind of similar game with our listeners.

— If you became millionaires overnight, what would you spend money on first?

Jokes aside, I would give everything for this war to end.

Something you wish you had learned about life earlier?

You are surrounded by liars. I wish I had known that earlier. Then I would probably have known how to appreciate my student years more.

What is the most interesting thing you have heard about Estonia before?

We have been to Tallinn once, and it is a truly beautiful city. We had an amazing concert there, and I remember someone from the audience shared an Estonian flag with us. It’s one of my favorites, I really love that color combination. And I love Estonian films. Just watched a movie called “November” - wow. I hope that someday we will create something similar in Ukraine.

What are you looking forward to the most at Tallinn Music Week?

Seeing the wonderful people of Tallinn again. Our last meeting was incredible. This town is so beautiful. We are very excited to finally come back.
