TTL. Can you tell us about yourself briefly?

Y: Hello, I am Yeabtsega Getachew. I am from AddisAbaba. I am a student and an aspiring artist.

TTL. Can you tell us about what you are currently working on?

Y: Currently I work on digital artworks that convey many aspects of life. I express those visually using the skill set I have developed for a while now.

TTL. How was life as a child? Had it any functional relation with your profession?

Y: Life as a child is pretty good especially when your parents have the same passion like you have as a little kid. Just like my father I have this passion for art and creativity which influenced my current profession as an artist.

TTL. Is there any situation that you used your professional prospects to mobilize society? Or to impact towards any set goal?

Y: Of course. Art by itself has this strong force that brings people together. Therefore I work on some illustrations that tell stories to invoke the thoughts in people's mind.

TTL. Can you describe the time when you first realized that creating was something you absolutely had to do?

Y: The first time I realized that was when I had to take this internship in an office where people work all day with a sad and miserable face. I didn't want to be like any of those people so I had to be willing to let my inner creative out and start doing what I love instead of what I hate.

TTL. What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever created?

Y: This piece of artwork showing a little kid behind a shattered glass

TTL. What software do you use?

What you don’t use but wish you could?

Y: I use Adobe illustrator software for most of my vector artworks. Occasionally I play with softwares like corel painter, photoshop, Adobe sketch and Rebelle which are raster based softwares. I have tried most of them, perhaps I wish I could use them more.

TTL. Do you have any specific mood or time to do your works?

Y: Not really,I actually draw or paint whenever I can. But I have seen that 3am early in the morning is when u can do your most creative work if u have the displine to wake up that early.

TTL. What are you trying to communicate with your Art/Designs?

Y: I try to communicate a different way of style in which u can put an art piece other than the usual forms of art. Also I try to convey abstract messages through the facial expressions of the human.

TTL. Where do you finding ideas for your work?

Y: Everything you see around you can give u a lot of ideas. I love surfing into the internet, looking into stock images, behance portfolios, Instagram portfolios and other images. In addition to that I sketch my own ideas on a piece of paper before using the digital medium.

TTL. What’s the best advice you ever had about how to be more creative?

Y: The best advice I had been given and would like to share is that no matter how long it takes you to master a skill never fail to trust the process. It could take u Month or several years but don't u ever give up on that dream.

TTL. What do you read?

What do you listen?

Y: I love reading self development books. Book about drawings, paintings, anatomical books, illustrations, desiging, and several others. I love listening to motivational speeches that could pump me up whenever I feel down.
