Asagi Igawa training a group of young Taimanin
The Taimanin ( 対魔忍 ? , lit. Anti-Demon Ninja) are a group of ninjas born from the superpowered Magi species of human beings, dedicated to combating and eliminating corruption and injustice caused by demons and evil people.

The Taimanin become a more prominent fighting force in the 21st century, organized by the Japanese government to fight crime and demonic influences across the country. Along with the Justice Alliance , the Taimanin is one of the two largest crime-fighting forces in Japan.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Tokyo in 2019, crime and corruption ran rampant across the ruins of the Japanese capital and beyond. The Japanese government sought the help of a small group of Taimanin, led by the Igawa sisters, to resolve the crisis enveloping the country. The government gave approval on the formation of the Justice Alliance and its status as a legitmate crime-fighting organization. However, soon after, the government gathered hundreds of ninjas across the country and organized a government-funded anti-crime organization known simply and collectively as the Taimanin, almost as a response to the activities of the Alliance.

The Gosha Academy serves as the primary base of operations and central hub and headquarters of the expanding Taimanin faction. It is also a school where a younger generation of Taimanin are taught and trained in the ways of the shinobi and purger of evil by the older and more experienced so they can take up the honor and helm of their predecessors in the future. The school became much more active in its operations, assignments and training shortly after the formation of the Justice Alliance.

The current leader and supreme commander of all Taimanin is Asagi Igawa . Leadership of the Taimanin lies in the hands of head of the Igawa clan. After her father was killed in a mission, Asagi took up the mantle of her predecessor and trained rigorously and ferociously for years to become the "Strongest Taimanin", a title given only to the absolute greatest and most powerful of all ninjas and one worthy to lead the Taimanin to victory in a constant war against evil.

Yukikaze channeling her "Lightning-Style Jutsu" through her guns
Every Taimanin is a member of the Magi , a sub-species of the homo sapiens that possesses abilities and powers beyond that of a regular human being. As such, each possess their own and unique set of powers from the other, fully developing them when they hit adolescence or even as early as seven to eight years old. Usually, these powers are passed down from one generation to the next in the same family or clan. For example, part of the lineage of Yukikaze's family inherits the Lightning-Style Jutsu, a ninja arts that can conjure lightning elemental powers for combat.

When going on missions, it is mandatory to organize a team of two Taimanin are organized by order or request of Asagi, her fellow colleagues or the government. Depending on the difficulty of a mission or through special requests, a team of three or more members would be sent. However, if a Taimanin has been in service for more than fifteen years, the team formation mandate becomes optional to them and they can go on solo missions, as is with several more experienced veterans such as Asagi, Sakura , Ryuunosuke , etc.

The Taimanin's principles far contrast that of the majority of the members of Justice Alliance. When facing adversity, be it a demon, a human enemy or likewise, a superhero from the Alliance would hesitate or outright refuse to kill and seek alternative methods such as sending them to the authorities and putting into custody by the Alliance themselves. By contrast, a Taimanin is mostly willing to end a life if it means protecting more lives and the balance of peace and order in Japan. Fellow Taimanin seniors like Asagi, Sakura and Murasaki believe in retribution against evil through any means necessary, brute force if need be. Few notable exceptions exist, such as Ryuunosuke's "no-kill" principle which is reminiscent of the moral principles of the Justice Alliance members, and belief that all life is sacred and must be protected, which came from his ancestors' Buddhist roots.

Taimanin Series - Canonical/chronological order to Action Taimanin?

A community for discussing visual novels, their development, and the medium.
With the release of Action Taimanin, a couple of questions started floating in my head. I'm uhhh, extremely familiar with the anime adaptation by Teruaki Murakami, but never actually managed to play the VNs.
And so now that the Taimanin Series has a "proper" game albeit being a gacha game, I've taken interest in the series' lore. I looked into the Taimanin series' list of games and there's a quite a few of them, but there are some stuff that looks like they were either cut content or a weird side-stories which I don't know if they should be considered "canon" or not.
And by "canon", I'm talking about the proper events and endings that culminated into what we're seeing in Action Taimanin's story. I don't actually know if Action Taimanin is following its own order of events that is completely separate from the rest of the series, but I'm still interested in delving into it.
What I currently found as what seems canon are (in release order):
Are these in chronological order as well?
I'm also unclear whether or not Chaos Arena, Nightmare, and ZERO are side-story/alternate timelines, so please let me know if these are canon or not.
Action Taimanin at the very least seems to be an alternate timeline set at the approximate time of Taimanin Asagi 1. Sakura and Murasaki are still students, the Yukikaze characters have been timeshifted to match (iirc in those games Sakura and Murasaki at least had graduated and were revered agents), and Yukikaze's crush in her games doesn't seem to be present (with AT's protagonist taking that role, apparently). The disgraced Fuuma heir role is one that they like to use for the self-insert position in their side games, the Action Taimanin version is far and away the least depraved one though.
So it may be the Zero timeline or an alternate timeline? Zero was kinda meant to be a reboot, after all.
For the OP: i think the Murasaki and Yukikaze games happen between Asagi 2 and 3 and Zero is a timeline set after the "world reset" ending for Asagi 3 (probably because the Asuka ending was way too conclusive for the series).
Action Taimanin version is far and away the least depraved one though.
Seems like it. MC having cute dates and pillow talks with a bunch of girls isn't exactly on brand with the series, but it's nice to see.
Kind of off topic but how is Action taimanin?
the global release was the refined JP version that's been out for quite some time, the quality of translation is a bit all over the place but it's a perfectly serviceable ARPG
that being said, it's as grindy as you'd expect any daily gacha to be, but at least they're a lot more generous with free tickets in the global version than they were in JP
It's an instanced hack n' slash with heavy gacha elements and very repetitive grinding. But if you're like me and you just like the fact that you can play as the Taimanin characters and see them in 3d models slashing their way through bad guys while they bounce their assets around, then that would be enough to keep you playing. The cute Level 5 Intimacy events are a nice bonus. I don't often see these characters in a non-"getting fucked in every hole of their body" state, so seeing them just go on a date or cooking breakfast is pretty refreshing.
At the very least , it's not Taimanin Collection: Battle Arena. This game actually has good polish to it, I just don't know if they have the funds to expand on it in a good way considering it's already nickle and dime-ing you through difficulty.
Chronologically, the timeline goes like this:
Taimanin Asagi 1 takes place 10 years before Taimanin Asagi 3.
Taimanin Asagi 2 takes place 6 years before TA 3, and therefore 4 years after TA 1.
Taimanin Yukikaze 1 and maybe even 2 take place 4 years before TA 3.
Proof (possible spoilers for the visual novels): https://imgur.com/a/3c6OpHw
Thanks dude, whether or not I need it, I'm gonna bookmark this
Thank you for this post I'm currently on the second one now and needed to know what comes next.
according to the wiki the official order is Kurenai, Asagi 1-2, Murasaki, Summer Days, Yukikaze 1-2 with Asagi 3 ending the 'old canon'.
there are other games with 'questionable' placement in the timeline but these are the ones whose placement has been confirmed. That being said, Kurenai is still listed as taking place 'after Asagi 2' on it's own page for some reason.
holy crap what the heck is that? The kaiju wiki was kind of very confusing what with dates of movie and anime releases for years that haven't even happened yet, I had to quit goign to that wiki because of it.
this series as to be THE most confusing chronology I've ever seen. I've never played the game and when I tried on the "free" sites, it was either buggy or they just threw me in some
