Tokyo. The demonic city, plagued with the demons from the dark realms.The ancient rule has prohibited the demons from interfering with humans,but with the humanity's dark descent, the pact is now history,and the treacherous syndicates weave crime and chaos throughout the world. In order to protect the nation, the Japanese government has established a special force, consisted of ninjas who, with their might and skills, can fight against the demonic invasion.The world will know them... as the Taimanins.
A new task force is established, composed of taimanins, to fight against the international threats and terrorist attacks. The task force's first mission is to retrieve the bio-weapon stolen from UFS base.
The mission takes a wild twist, as an unexpected alliance joins the team, and equally unexpected adversary reveals himself - a man who knows Igawa Asagi, the Almighty Taimanin.......
The game opens with Asagi Igawa, Sakura Igawa, and Yukikaze Mizuki being briefed about a mission by Kotarou Fuuma. In this mission, the Taimanins are to secure an escape route for hostages to escape from the terrorist group "Freedom of Africa".
After completing the mission, it is revealed to be an exercise ran in a simulation training facility under Gosha Academy. Shortly after, the group is met by Yamaoto Nobushige who appoints Kotarou as commander of a new Taimanin squad, the Taimanin Task Force, on Asagi's recommendation. Yamamoto mentions how Fuuma will be assigned an aide to help him with his duties as field commander. Right as their conversation finishes, an alarm echoes through the room leading to the first mission of the Taimanin Task Force.
A week prior to the start of the mission, a UFS transport truck carrying a biological weapon in Japan was attacked by an unidentified armed group. Takenaka Heiji, a university professor, was suspected of leaking the information that led to this incident. The Agency was about to arrest the professor but the UFS made a deal with him to keep the incident quiet in exchange to be extradited to the UFS. The Taimanin Task Force mission was to stop Takenaka from leaving the country. He was scheduled to depart from Kinki International Airport in a civilian airplane.
On their arrival, an airplane had crashed into the airport. Shortly after, Momochi Toyo was revealed to be responsible for the attack. After defeating several enemy ninjas, the Task Force arrived just in time to see Momochi slay Takenaka. After Asagi confronts him, Momochi claims to have started mobilizing in order to become the 'leader of history' in East Asia. Right as they start to chase him, Oboro intercepts the task force and stalls them by summoning a demonic beast. The Taimanin kill the beast but Momochi manages to escape the scene.
The next day, back at Gosha Academy, Kotarou is woken up after class by his classmates Uehara Shikanosuke and Aishu Hebiko. After a short conversation, Yukikaze arrives to pick up Kotarou on Chief Yamamoto's orders. At the headmaster's office, Kotarou laments the outcome of the mission to which Yamamoto replies to not dwell on it too much. Asagi then arrives with a girl wearing the Chinese Union's uniform who is introduced as Su Jinglei. She's from the People's Liberation Army Intelligence Department and is assigned as Kotarou's new aide.
The Taimanin Task Force asked for the Chinese Union's cooperation in capturing Momochi Toyo due to his activity in Southeast Asia. Su explains that his hideout is in the Republic of Venam and he's likely to be collaborating with the Venam Separatist Liberation Forces (commonly known as the VF). Yamamoto orders the group to secure Nguyen Van Tan, a VF executive from the Japanese branch.
However, Su puts into question Kotarou's merits as a commander. She calls him a "young kid" and "amateur" in front of everyone which irritates Yukikaze. After some back and forth between the two, Yukikaze mentions how they don't need non-Taimanins for the mission. Asagi remarks that Su is indeed one because she studied directly under her, and even calls Su her favorite student. After Asagi mediates between Su and the Task Force, Yamamoto sends them on their mission.
Some time later, Yukikaze, Su, Sakura, and Kotarou arrive at the entertainment district pretending to be young delinquents as a cover. Su leads them to the entrance of the VF's hideout. In the middle of an argument between Yukikaze and Su, an explosion is heard nearby.
The Task Force arrives to the explosion site to find several corpses lying around. They determine that Momochi did this in order to remove any evidence of his involvement. After some more searching, the group witnesses Oboro killing Nguyen Van Tan.
Kotarou then orders the Task Force to chase Oboro but Su stops in her tracks. She gives up lamenting that the evidence that could lead to the location of the biological weapon is now lost. The Taimanin group tells her that Kotarou deployed his drone earlier in the mission, so there's still time to catch up to Oboro. After a battle with her, they succeed in capturing her.
Later, Su begins interrogating Oboro by using violent methods but Kotarou protests against this. He then swaps places with Su and after carefully deceiving Oboro, they're able to find out that Momochi Toyo is headed towards Kotrara Island.
The Task Force arrives to Kotrara Island a few days after the VF Japan incident. They go into hiding in an old warehouse to wait for Su to gather intel. Yukikaze and Sakura complain about the intense heat in Venam, to which Fuuma says he can't do much about. After a short conversation between Asagi and the rest, Su informs them that Momochi Toyo is indeed in the island planning a terrorist attack. His objective being to weaken the Chinese Union presence in the island and pin the blame of the attack on the UFS.
Su then says that the Intelligence Department of the Chinese Union narrowed down the point of attack to an old sewer, connected to the city's ventilation system. At the same time, Kotarou is informed by Yamamoto that the biological weapon is called the Creeping Death Virus (CD Virus for short). This virus turns people into zombie-like creatures once unleashed. To protect the Task Force, they took a vaccine that is estimated to last 2 hours to prevent them from being turned into monsters, putting a time limit to complete the mission.
After going through the monster-infested sewers, the Task Force arrives at a point full of explosives where Momochi makes an appearance. Immediately after taking him down, Asagi says that it would be impossible for the real Momochi to go down so easily. She uncovers the mask and realizes that they defeated a decoy. Su also inspects the bombs which are fakes. As the team realizes that they fell into a trap, a loud explosion shakes the ground.
Su receives notice that Momochi released the CD Virus on the main streets of the island and is broadcasting the attack to the rest of the world. Despite having fallen to his trap, Asagi remarks that there's still work for the Task Force to do: minimize the damage of the ongoing attack and apprehend Momochi before he leaves the island. After seeing the determination of the others, Su decides not to give up and the Task Force makes their way to the surface.
Mutated humans roam the streets of Kotrara and the Task Force has 45 minutes to finish their mission. Kotarou is able to decrypt Momochi's broadcast, pinpointing his location. After finally reaching the real Momochi, he says that he cannot be stopped since the chain of events have already been set into motion for the world to see. After a battle between him and the Task Force, he claims that his body is nothing but a vessel for ideals and infects himself with the CD Virus in a last-ditch effort to kill the Taimanins. The Task Force then kills the "Momochi Toyo Creature" putting an end to the tragedy at Kotrara.
Two weeks later, Kotarou is woken up by Su at the Fuuma mansion. Wearing her Taimanin suit, Su demands Kotarou to join her in training. He explains in an inner monologue that after the Kotrara incident, executives called for the Task Force's dissolution and Su's detention. To avoid the harsh punishments of the PLA, Kotarou asked for support to keep the Task Force alive so that Su could stay in Gosha.
Su says that after the mission, she realized how inexperienced she was and that she was going to be discharged without a second chance to redeem herself. Kotarou invited her again to Gosha and hastily promised her to build the greatest task force, which Su took to heart. Hence her insistence in training with Kotarou for him to reach his full potential.
At the living room, they are greeted by Fuuma Tokiko. She expresses her joy at seeing Kotarou up early. Su says that as long as she's a guest at the Fuuma house, laziness won't be tolerated. While eating breakfast, Tokiko alerts them of some important footage being shown on the TV which turns out to be Momochi Toyo. He is giving a manifesto on how the Kotrara incident was the tip of the iceberg on what's to come.
A month after the Kotrara attack, the Task Force is training in the underground facility under Gosha Academy. Kotarou and Sakura discuss a shipment brought from the UFS earlier, which contained victims from the bio-weapon attack. They allegedly asked the Taimanin organization for help finding a cure, but Kotarou is skeptic due to the UFS advanced biotechnology.
The order came from the Japanese government, which Yamamoto went to investigate (with Asagi as a guard). In their absence, Yatsu Murasaki and Akiyama Rinko were assigned to the Task Force. The group discusses the possible motivations behind the zombies sent from the UFS. Kotarou says he had been keeping a close eye on Oboro since he suspects Nomad might be behind it. Su says that she and Kotarou had been taking turns surveilling her, and the fact that she was so quiet made things even more suspicious.
Despite the circumstances, the Task Force agrees that they shouldn't rely on Asagi too much and decide to get back to training. Kotarou prepared a simulation so they form teams and start making bets on the outcome of the exercise. The setting is a zombie attack at Gosha Academy, which Murasaki finds of bad taste. After clearing the training mission, Murasaki gives Kotarou some pointers on how to be a more considerate commander to improve the Task Force's performance in battle. Right in the middle of their discussion, an alarm goes off notifying them that the zombies have broken loose.
At the same time, Kotarou was notified that Oboro escaped the concentration camp. With the other Taimanins trailing her, the Task Force is assigned to deal with the zombies at Gosha Academy. While battling, Yukikaze points out how the zombies are tougher than the ones at Kotrara Island. Kotarou analyses their data and concluded that they were undergoing constant evolution during battle.
After dealing with several waves, the Task Force clears the area but Kotarou is notified that Oboro managed to escape. He concludes that it is likely that she planned her escape knowing that Asagi wouldn't be at Gosha. Which meant that someone in the Japanese government was leaking information to Nomad.
Kotarou was about to give the order to chase after Oboro but he received a call from Yamamoto. He says the UFS requested the Task Force to go to Kotrara Island within the next hour. Despite his initial protest, Yamamoto asks them to trust their fellow Taimanin with Oboro's recapture and to personally look into the UFS' ties to Nomad.
The Taimanin Task Force arrived once again to Kotrara Island, where the UFS and the Chinese Union were still dealing with the fallout of the terrorist attack. There were several scientists and soldiers from both factions who were seemingly on edge at the group’s arrival. After a short discussion on the political implications of the attack, the Task Force rendezvous with Asagi.
She explains that she decided to collect info from the UFS regarding the previous attack at Gosha Academy, since Nomad had infiltrated the Japanese government in order to allow Oboro to escape. Thn, Asagi the introduces the Task Force to James McGahren, a UFS member who assigns them a mission to find a UFS unit that went missing a week prior.
The mission took place at the sewers of Kotrara. During the fight, Yukikaze points out how the zombies are almost as strong as Murasaki. Kotarou explains how the UFS send subsequent units who never returned. And the reason behind their disappearance could be connected to in-fighting from pro- and anti- Nomad factions within the UFS.
After more fighting the Task Force found Emily Simmons, who confirmed that the initial research unit was wiped by the zombies. After exchanging information regarding the zombies and the bio-weapon, she tells them that both the UFS and the Chinese Union are in a rush to get ahold of Momochi Toyo’s body.
More fighting ensured and Emily was able to show her skills to the Task Force. Therefore, she was allowed to tag along in the body’s search. While making their way, Emily was constantly talking and observing Asagi. Kotarou then asks her the reason to which Emily replies that she always wanted to study the body of “The Almighty Taimanin”.
Emily works with prosthetics and the Taimanin anatomy fascinates her, due to their ability to store Particles and use ninja arts. She said that if civilians could use prosthetics with those properties, perhaps they wouldn’t be so defenseless against demons and their lives could be improved.
The Task Force found the mutilated corpse of Momochi Toyo. It was in a state of constant decay and regeneration due to it being constantly eaten by the zombies in the area. Su speculates that the zombies were gaining power from eating Momochi’s corpse. However, after closer inspection Asagi concludes that this isn’t the real corpse. All of a sudden, the Task Force is surrounded by enemies.
