I have found myself grinding strike missions for days, trying to do Dawning gifts and gather Paradox bullshit. In that time I have done the Savathun strike a few dozen times.
I have come to realize I REALLY hate Taeko-3. I am guessing its the same person who does the voice for Amanda, but the acting is terrible... the dialogue is terrible... but what really gets me is this:
"We came down here as a squad of 9. Got picked off one by one." Thats 3 fireteams (which in an of itself is annoying because everyone knows thats too many for Bungie to allow in the first place. 3,4, or 6 is the rule, 9? Thats fucking chaos.)
Then when NolanNerdBot says "We're coming to rescue you" Shes like "No, I'm coming to rescue you ." - excuse me, what? You already got 8 Guardians killed. Maybe you need to shut up and follow some orders for once. She says "Laying low is not in her playbook." I think she needs a new damn book. The the most cringe inducing line: "EMBRACE THE PRAXIC FYYURE"
One of the best strikes IMO, but good lord I want to mute the dialogue.
The ugly piece of work line is the one that makes me die a little inside.
"LAYING LOW IS NOT IN MY PLAYBOOK."
Also, the way she changes her mind from "No! Don't come down here!" to "Nevermind. We're going with that plan." is jarring and disjointed even if you aren't speeding through the strike.
Without a doubt the single worst line of dialogue in this whole franchise. Nothing even compares to how ungodly bad it is, both in content and delivery.
"That Wizard came from the Moon" is borderline Shakespearean compared to this line.
I've been wondering whether line was changed at the last minute or something. "Ugly piece of work" is such a strange and unnatural phrase, particularly in the context of destiny.
Perhaps whatever "insult" they originally wrote was deemed to be too offensive? But then, I can't imagine any version of that insult that would work in the context of the scene.
We need a dialogue volume slider. Mine would always be at 0. I can’t bear any of it anymore.
what was that about? she could have just said "ugly piece of shit" and i would have been ok with it. no one censors themselves like that when their lives are at stake.
It's actually one of the least offensive lines she says. Not everyone can be good at on the spur of the moment insults but...'real talk'? Ugh.
Then she says she's the last remaining member of 3 fireteams. We say stay put put. She says staying put is not in her play book. (Obviously it's not a good play book). She says she's low on ammo. We say we're coming to rescue her. She says she's going to come rescue us , the slayers of Crota and Oyrx.
When we find out she's dead my first thought is "good riddance to that egotistical idiot"
I dunno maybe the whole strike is set up to make us realize that our guardian truly is special and most guardians are actually pretty terrible and incompetent.
You know when you're watching an R rated movie on TV and they dub over all of the curse words? That's what the "ugly piece of work" line makes me feel like I'm doing.
For real. It hurts...every...single...time...
How does one actually pen those words together and not burst into flames on the spot.
I think the VA just needs to work on the delivery. Good delivery could even make bad lines sound good.

Not to be mean or anything but the voice acting from Taeko-3 and the other "guardians" in Savathûn's Song are, quite frankly, garbage. They deliver the lines flat and disinterested and sound so forced and rushed, Taeko-3 even stutters for crying out loud, this is Oblivion tier voice acting compared to literally everyone else in the game and it makes the (admittedly subpar and overly common) strike even more insufferable. Please rehash the voice acting, it is bad.

I know. So much cringe. Sometimes the lines even end up out of order or the wrong responses get chosen. Maybe not wrong, but some of the alternate ones don't seem like appropriate responses. Taeko's behavior is just so silly too. nO dOnT cOmE dOwN hErE . Why would she sacrifice herself to stop a shrieker? We don't care about the Hive "laying eyes" on the place anymore than they do with the dozens of other rituals. I refuse to believe sacrificing a Guardian was the only way to stop a lousy Shrieker.

It’s the writing, not the actors. Think about those simplistic, cheesy lines. It’d be next to impossible to deliver them with much grace. Destiny’s writing is unique. The lore is phenomenal. I’m always amazed at how through and interesting it is. But, the dialog is always tacky. It amazes me that it’s all made by the same company. It’s like the dialog and lore belong to entirely different games. Commercials included.

red war, curse, and warmind all have terrible dialogue. forsaken is better (Baron dialogue is HORRIBLE) and shadowkeep isn't too bad

Taeko-3 reminds me of Michelle Rodriguez for some reason. I didn't think her voice acting was especially bad, and I never really understood the hatred her character seems to get. We have a few really good voice actors in the game, with Eris standing high above the rest for me personally, but I don't think that makes everything else automatically "bad". If any characters came up on the short end , I would have to go with our ghost or brother Vance, but I believe they simply voiced their characters the way bungie had written them. Both of these characters could use a rewrite and voice over, but that's not going to happen.
