Nice game but smelled funny, like it had been in a basement. Everything was already open and there was an appearance of some light wear. Still nice game, all parts present and fun and easy to play.
I love this game! I first played this back in college and I remembered having a lot of fun with my org friends avoiding the taboo words and guessing the right ones. A friend gifted me with one box but I left it back home. I moved to the US last December and really wanted this as part of my family's game collection. I looked for a used one but made sure that the parts are all there. I finally found a cheap one but when it came, the taboo buzzer had old batteries inside it and was not working anymore. I chose to return it. Taboo buzzer is a deal breaker for me. :( I found another one but when it came, it was missing the hourglass timer. I called Amazon customer service about it and the representative offered me a $5 refund for the hourglass. Not bad as I can just buy one. I didn't want to return the game anymore as it is used but looked new san hourglass. The box looked a little worn but all the cards are there and the buzzer is perfect!

The game comes with 504 cards and each side has a word so 1008 words. This is alot of fun for my husbanf and i. There is a word on the top of each side of a card and you have 2 get the other person/people to try to say that word which is the "taboo" word but you have have five other words on the card that you cant say (which could give away the "taboo" word and nake guessing the word easy) love love love!!! Just sux thst the seller lamli distrobutors put like new and sold me a game missing cards and a broken buzzer.. over all i lovr this game and after a few months or so we can play again cuz remembering all the words is doubtful but if the same clues are used then its likely ull remember
Game is good. I have played Taboo with friends in the past and I have always liked it. Finally decided to purchase a set on my own. As I saw it from other friends in the past, the game set was no surprise to me. The only complaint is that the plastic box that is used to hold the cards seems a bit crappy and fragile; I hope I won't break it any time soon. I gotta give compliment to the shipping service. I ordered it 4 days before Christmas, and it wasn't a Christmas gift so I was okay with receiving it anytime. But the sender tried to ship it to me in time for Christmas and used a faster shipping method without charging me. That was very thoughtful! And it just so happened that it was shipped to my building on the day when the building was closed. I didn't get any notification from the carrier (UPS probably), but the sender emailed me to inform me and advised me to check how to get it re-delivered. The sender was very helpful throughout the process. Much appreciate it!
I love this game! Its so much fun to play in groups. Everything in the box was new, exept for the buzzer. It does not work for some reason which is why I'm giving it a 4 stars. If not for that it would deff be a 5 star
Love this game. When you play Taboo, you must choose your words carefully, an exercise that develops verbal and thinking skills. Being disciplined in thought and strategic in speech is a lost art in our "culture," so the game may not have mass appeal. Nonetheless, as a self-described word nerd, it is my favorite game. That being said, I ordered the item believing it to be "new." Perhaps I missed a disclaimer in the information. The box contained all the pieces as far as I can tell, and the various components of the game ("hour glass" timer with sand, buzzer for indicating when time is up, playing cards, score pad) were intact. But the box exterior and interior packaging were pretty beat up. In fact, traces of previous players' scores were visible, indented on the score pad. It doesn't affect the ability to use and enjoy the game. I was just a little disappointed that the packaging wasn't bright and shiny.
Shipment was quick! Definitely value for money, nothing missing and the buzzer works fine...
Taboo is just a wonderful game that I cannot recommend enough! For those who are uninitiated, in Taboo, you get a set of cards with one word that you're trying to describe. You also have a list of 5 associated words that you cannot say. So, you must get your team to guess your main word without saying any part of any of the words on the card. It's a great party game and a wonderful tool for those learning a new language! I've loved this game from the first time I played it. It's my favorite party/casual game and a great game to play with friends. I highly recommend picking up a copy to play with your friends and family!

The game of unspeakable fun, Taboo 2001 lets you get as creative as you want. Think fast and talk fast to get your team to guess the secret word in 60 seconds or less. But choose your clues carefully, because if you utter any of the 5 Taboo words, you'll be buzzed and lose your turn. This 10th anniversary edition features more than 1,000 new words to guess. For 4 or more players. Made in USA.
It sounds so simple: get your team to name common words without voicing a few choice descriptors. But could you describe a wristwatch without mentioning time, wrist, or clock? Taboo rewards those who think--and speak--fast. The team that correctly identifies as many words as possible in a minute (measured with an hourglass timer) wins. If a member of the opposing team, armed with the blaring buzzer, catches the clue giver using any of the taboo words, a point is deducted from the group's score. It's a good idea to separate people who know each other well, because their familiarity can be too great an advantage. If the clue is spinach, prompting with "Mom made this every Monday" just doesn't seem fair, though it is permissible according to the rules. Playing Taboo requires an AA battery and a sense of humor--you'll need them both! The timer is included. Taboo is for four or more players. --Leah Bal l
