TON Proxy: Introducing optional traffic micro-payments and privacy via garlic routing

TON Core

We have updated the TON network protocols and TON Proxy technology, allowing traffic between client and server to pass through one or several intermediate TON Proxy nodes. Garlic routing ensures complete anonymity, safeguarding client privacy and enhancing server security.

Intermediate TON Proxy nodes can receive Toncoin micropayments through the TON Payment Network (Layer 2).

This technology is built on top of the TON network protocol and is available for all solutions operating with it:

  • Node and Validator communication: Validators can now utilize TON Proxy, significantly increasing their resistance to DDoS attacks. Validator 0BC84924DFF8091A2C31B30AD4F0ED3542BD63AD9A07FF1BD535E772D3627D38 using TON Proxy is already successfully operating in the TON test network.
  • TON Sites: This technology hides the IP addresses of users and web servers, providing web server protection against DDoS attacks and hacks, as well as ensuring user privacy.
  • TON Storage/TON Torrents: Offers the capability for Toncoin micro-payment when privately downloading files.

The technology is basically integrated into the following utilities:

Next Steps:

Validators: After successful testing of TON Proxy with validators in the test network, the TON Core team will offer a ready-made solution for validators in the main network, enhancing their protection against DDoS attacks.

Products: Currently, a foundational protocol and basic tools have been developed. This will enable further ecosystem development within the main TON network, including the emergence of intermediate TON Proxy node hosting providers and user-friendly products and solutions for TON Proxy, TON Sites, TON Storage, and TON Torrents.
