In late XIXth century Sir John Herschel, along with some other astronomers including British Israelite Charles Piazzi Smyth calculated that with the pivot point fixed as the star Alcyone in the Pleiades cluster (situated in Taurus), the passage would continue itself in the night sky pointing towards Thuban in the constellation Draco, the stars of which were approximately the North Pole back in the age of Taurus.

For instance, an ancient Arabic designation for constellation Draco was that of camel with titles of different stars varying from Al Awaid (Mother Camels) to Al Rakis (the Dancer or Trotting Camel).
The north ecliptic pole (Běijí 北极; represented by a red dot which does not correspond to any astral body since the north ecliptic pole is starless, 無極 Wújí, "without pole") coiled by Draco (Tiānlóng 天龙), the Dragon, which slithers between the Little Dipper and the Big Dipper (Great Chariot), respectively representing yin and yang, death and life (Cheu, p. 19). As the symbol of the "protean" primordial power which embodies both yin and yang in unity (Pankenier, p. 55), the Dragon is the curved line in-between yin and yang in the "diagram of the Supreme Pole" (太极图 Tàijítú, of 太极 Tàijí) → Taijitu - Small (CW).svg.
