Telegram X Android Group Rules

Official group about Telegram X. In this chat you can report bugs or suggest improvements.

The chat is administrated by volunteers: we do not work for Telegram and are not directly in contact with the company. We're collecting bugs and processing your feedbacks. Those which are worth of attention are forwarded to the developer. The developer of Telegram X isn't a member of this chat, so he doesn't take part in the discussion directly - but he still monitors the chat and processes the reported issues and suggestions.

We do process reports coming both from users using the app downloaded from the stable channel and the beta channel.

The beta version of the app is distributed through:

the PlayStore, you can subscribe to the beta testing channel from this link
@tgx_log, which is the only official place from where to download the apk file

Reporting a bug or an issue

When reporting bugs, include the following informations:

steps to reproduce (if it's possible to reproduce the issue);
Android version (there are many version-specific issues);
device name & manufacturer (there are many device-specific issues);
TGX version code. Don’t use terms like “latest”;
screen recording or screenshots describing the steps to reproduce are highly appreciated;
for keyboard-related bugs, include keyboard name & version.

Bug report example

Music player cannot be controlled from the notifications panel.
App version: 742;
Device: OnePlus 5T;
Android: Stock 7.1.1 (OxygenOS 4.7.6);
Steps: Play any music, minimise the app, try to control it from the notifications panel

❗️To access the logs, open the app settings, scroll to the bottom of the screen, hold the version number and select "Application Logs"

Battery issues

If you're experiencing problems with excessive battery consumption, please provide the following information:

- When did you notice this? Did you notice it after a certain update? Which one?
- Do you notice if battery draining happens after certain action or certain amount of time after application start?
- How do you use the app? Only messaging / for video/audio/calls etc
- Are you from the country where the Telegram has been banned?
- How many accounts do you have?
- How many chats?

Also provide screenshots of battery details screen from your device's settings and check the application and TDLib logs' levels in TGX Debug Settings: they should be set to Assert.

Group rules

The language of this group is English only. Don't use other languages for discussions or bug reporting
Don’t flood, don't send too many short messages, don't abuse stickers and gifs (even better: don't use them at all unless it's to describe a bug)
If you want to add more information related to a bug report you submitted, please edit your original message when possible
Don't ask when a bug will be fixed or when a feature will be implemented, we don't share (or know) any ETAs
Please don’t post messages like “still not fixed” if you didn’t see the corresponding bug fix in the changelog, or the changelog did not imply the issue has been worked on
Don't message the admins about issues that can be adressed in the chat, unless asked to do so
APK sharing is prohibited
Don't mention the admins unless there's a spam/flood problem, or someone is misbehaving. If an admin intervention is needed, use @admin (our bot will notify the admins)
Don't tell users to clear the app's data or to reinstall TGX to fix some particular issue. Sometimes the user might be asked for further details about their issue, and the current state of the app must remain unchanged
Remember the rule of thumb when discussing bugs with others: the fact that it works for you doesn't mean it must work for everyone else, and viceversa
Kindly don't post "I have this issue too" or "I don't have this issue" messages when someone submits a bug (unless you're going to add further details, like steps to reproduce or different device or android version)
This is not a chatting room, so off-topic (that is, any discussion that is not about TGX) is not allowed. Off-topic discussions might still be allowed if they have some relevance, but they will eventually be removed by the admins (see paragraph below)
This isn't an airpost. No need to announce your departure. If you switch back to the official app because TGX is missing a feature, just do. Without announcing it

A note about the chat's moderation

You might notice the chat moderation is quite strict. Usually, discussions that do not belong to the chat get deleted to make it more easily readable for the admins and the developer. The people administrating the chat are volunteers and are in no way related to Telegram - keeping an eye on the chat requires time, which unfortunately is a scarse resource. The more the chat sticks to the topic (bug reporting and good meta-discussions about TGX), the easier it is to find useful bug reports, collect them and follow the discussion flow.

This means that if some of the following duscussions happen inside the chat, they might get deleted:

offtopic, generic discussions unrelated to TGX
non-english discussions
messages like "hello" and "hi"
support requests (eg. "how do I do this on TGX" or "where is option x") that are considered common knowledge and continue for too long. Even short ones might get deleted after they're solved
generic questions about Telegram
feature requests that need platform support (eg. messages reactions etc.)
recurring meta-discussions about TGX (eg. "is TGX opensource?" (btw, it will be soon))

Usually people don't get restricted for starting a conversation that falls under the above-mentioned categories. If you think your message has been deleted by mistake or unlawfully, please message an admin.

The bot

The chat is also administrated by a bot, which will be silent most of the time and only act when some events happen.

What you need to know:

"@admin" is a special keyword that will notify all the admins when someone uses it. Please use it only in case of spam or when you believe someone is misbehaving
don't send too many messages in a row or the bot will restrict you
if you think you have been restricted unlawfully, please message an admin
