This didn't seem too appropriate for court documents.
By and large, actress Sydney Sweeney is currently living the Hollywood dream, riding a wave of success from star-turning roles in HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus , among many other projects in her ever-busy career . The resort-set anthology earned Emmy Award nominations for Sweeney and many of her co-stars, and she’s already lined up a role in Sony’s Madame Web and more in the future. But not everything is so hunky-dory, as she’s currently being sued over an allegedly botched business deal, and has called out the plaintiff company for trying to shame her in court paperwork.
The swimsuit company LA Collective has claimed that Sydney Sweeney previously agreed to partner with them on a line of bikinis, but then said the Handmaid’s Tale vet exited out of the deal at the last minute. According to the company, the actress’ involvement would have led to around $3 million in estimated sales.
For her part, Sydney Sweeney reportedly decided to back out of the agreement with LA Collective after learning about customers’ complaints from over the years. To her point, reviews across various websites such as Trustpilot indicate that consumers aren’t exactly overwhelmed with glee about the swimsuit company. But that didn’t stop LA Collective from calling out Sweeney’s career choices in legal paperwork.
In a recent court motion, the swimwear business did not stick to a completely business-minded approach, and instead focused on negative opinions about Sweeney as a person and her career, reports Radar . According to LA Collective’s paperwork:
The internet is also replete with videos and pictures of Sweeney naked and engaging in activity that appeals to the prurient interest. Since she is obviously not ready for prime time and may never be, Sweeney needed to supplement her income by launching a swimwear line that she could promote by wearing the products on her television show.
In response to prior follow-up claims from Sydney Sweeney, who reportedly said working with the company would damage her reputation, LA Collective once again brought up the actress’ nude scenes, saying:
It is hard to understand how she would suffer any more reputation damage than what she has already incurred as a result of her pornographic videos and salacious internet depictions, which were entirely self-inflicted wounds.
It’s unclear if the company believes that HBO’s Euphoria itself amounts to pornographic videos, or if its execs/legal team are mixing Sweeney up with co-star Chloe Cherry, who actually has legitimately starred in a variety of adult films. (And her only issue with that side of her career is the ugly reactions it sparks from others.) In any case, Sweeney has spoken about her main regret when it comes to nude scenes isn’t the nudity itself, but the fact that viewers sometimes can’t separate the character from the person.
Understandably, LA Collective’s comments didn’t win any compliments from the Euphoria star’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, whose own court filing fired back, calling the company’s comments “disgusting.” Here’s how he put it:
[LA Collective’s] attempt to reduce Sweeney to nothing more than a harlot (with repeated references to ‘nudity,’ ‘sex,’ ‘pornographic videos,’ and the ‘prurient interest’) is particularly disgusting and offensive to women, but perhaps entirely consistent with LA Collective’s (and its lawyer’s) abhorrent reputation in the industry. It is no wonder that Sweeney refused to associate or do business with LA Collective and its owners.
Sydney Sweeney is looking to get the judge in this case to dismiss the claims listed in LA Collective’s suit, though it’s unclear when things will move forward from here. The legal wranglings certainly haven’t stopped Sweeney from taking part in an extensive press campaign ahead of this year’s Emmy Awards, where she’s nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie.
For anyone who finds it strange that LA Collective spoke negatively of Sydney Sweeney showing off her body while in the midst of suing her over a bikini line, here’s how Andrew Brettler followed the above comments:
It is ironic that [LA Collective’s] Complaint seeks to force Ms. Sweeney to serve as the face of its swimwear line while simultaneously disparaging her reputation by way of including sexist and misogynistic remarks in a public filing.
While it’s unclear what will happen with this lawsuit, fans can see how Sydney Sweeney fares at the Emmys when the telecast airs on NBC on Monday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. ET. And be sure to check out both of her biggest roles of 2021 with The White Lotus and Euphoria both streaming with an HBO Max subscription .

Sydney Sweeney is baring it all when it comes to her “ Euphoria ” nude scenes.
After previously telling The Independent that certain topless scenes weren’t “ necessary ” for her HBO character, Sweeney revealed to Teen Vogue that some of her comments were taken out of context.
“I never asked [‘Euphoria’ showrunner Sam Levinson] to cut any scenes,” Sweeney said, referring to headlines that misconstrued the story. “It got twisted and turned and it became its own beast, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’”
Now, the “White Lotus” star clarified that she wanted to emphasize the boundaries that Levinson facilitated on the record-breaking HBO series.
“It was more how respectful Sam is and how incredible of a director he is, that he would never make me do something I didn’t feel comfortable with,” Sweeney continued in the new interview, saying the nudity added to the realistic portrayal of her character, Cassie. “I think it’s important to the storyline and the character. There’s a purpose to what that character is going through. That’s the character. We all get naked in real life. We show this character’s life and what they’re going through. Cassie’s body is a different form of communication for her.”
Sweeney told The Independent at the time that she “never felt like [creator] Sam [Levinson] has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show,” adding, “There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.'” She added, “This is something that has bothered me for a while. I’m very proud of my work in ‘Euphoria.’ I thought it was a great performance. But no one talks about it because I got naked.”
“No matter what I say, it’s never my words,” she told Teen Vogue. “There’s no context behind a conversation, like what you and I are having right now. People create their own narratives around a word or sentence that is said that is rewritten. Do I stand up for myself and then people don’t believe I’m standing up for myself, but [that I’m just] going back on words that I say? But really they were rewritten by someone else.”
Sweeney concluded, “Why do interviews when it’s not really our words?”

Within the first 30 minutes of the pilot episode of “Euphoria,” a young woman’s bare breasts enter the frame. Then, just six minutes into the second episode, 30 penises flop across the screen in a locker room scene gender-swapped with the one from “Carrie.”
But, despite what viewers may think, Sam Levinson , the showrunner of the “ raw and honest ” HBO show about a group of high school students grappling with sex, drugs and violence, didn’t want the nudity to feel gratuitous. He wanted it to be “authentic to the experience of being young.”
“I think the show is far more restrained than our world, and certainly more restrained than the internet,” Levinson told The Hollywood Reporter . “But there’s always been a puritanical streak in America, and just the idea that there is any kind of nudity on screen is always something certain people recoil at.”
That statement rings even more true in terms of nakedness on a show about teenagers. As most adults might say, it’s troubling to watch a graphic depiction of 16-year-olds having sex. But the goal for “Euphoria” isn’t to outrage; it’s to shed light on the anxieties of growing up today in the ever-expanding, and frightening, time of internet culture and social media.
Sydney Sweeney , who plays popular cheerleader Cassie Howard on the show, was understandably nervous when it came time to shoot her various nude scenes ― and even had a long sit-down conversation with her mom about the daunting task. But the 21-year-old actress said she also was really proud to work on a project that wasn’t afraid to go there in order to tell these stories truthfully.
“The thing about the nudity in this show is that it’s not glamorized. It’s not, ‘Oh, here’s a pair of tits.’ It’s just real,” Sweeney told HuffPost during a Build Series interview on Monday. “I had to look at the whole picture of the entirety of the show, and I just fell in love with the rawness and the situations and the emotions that all these characters go through.”
She continued: “I always tend to find things that scare me and there hasn’t been a TV show that has really represented a real look at growing up today, and I wanted to be a part of something like that.”
HBO and Levinson, who based the show around his own experiences with drug addiction, sexuality and violence as a teen, hired an intimacy coordinator , Amanda Blumenthal, to be on set for his young cast to make sure they were comfortable doing what was being asked of them. “Talking about a sex scene beforehand or shooting a sex scene, it’s all uncomfortable. No one is thrilled about it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Sweeney said it wasn’t as much “uncomfortable” as it was nerve-wracking. “I was timid at first because I’ve never done anything like that before,” she said.
Although she can’t reveal much about Cassie’s upcoming storyline, Sweeney did say that her character’s arc is “very powerful” and will definitely move people when Episode 7 debuts on July 28.
“When I booked [the part], I was speaking to Sam about my character and I was like, ‘What else happens to Cassie? I want to know the full arc of her.’ And when he told me her arc, I absolutely fell in love,” Sweeney said. “If many people would read the page, you’d see the stereotypical blonde, sexual, popular, teenage girl. But really, there’s so many layers to her and she’s gone through so much.”
She continued: “I always look for characters that will hopefully develop into a more powerful symbol. I hope that as Cassie’s storyline progresses, she becomes that symbol for people.”

Euphoria may be the nudity star of the year, if episode one is any indication.
Also in the episode: Alexa Demie topless

In the first episode of season two of Euphoria Sydney won the Best Nude Scene competition last year, and like a true champion, she is not resting on her laurels. Ted Williams was hitting .400 coming into the last day of the 1941 season. Many people thought he should be…
This is another look at her scene from episode 7 of Gloria. Her breasts look even more spectacular in HD. She may even have Sydney Sweeney beat.
LOL. Connelly even put Virginia Madsen in the shade in that movie.
Almost feel bad for poor Alexa Demie here. It’s like that other girl on the beach in The Hot Spot. Who?
