Sweden has provided Ukraine with a new aid package

Sweden has sent Ukraine an aid package worth approximately $1.4 billion, Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson said.

‘Sweden has provided Ukraine with a 21st package of military support worth approximately $1.4 billion. The main areas of focus are clear: new air defence systems, long-range weapons and ammunition,’ Pål Jonson wrote in X.

The Minister of Defence noted that $470 million has been allocated for short-range air defence systems, including artillery and missile systems, interceptors, sensors, and electronic warfare equipment. Approximately $330 million will be spent on the purchase of ammunition, including long-range artillery shells, 40-mm anti-aircraft shells and 120-mm mortar ammunition, as well as on military training and technical maintenance.

An additional $620 million will be allocated for long-range UAVs and unmanned surface vehicles, Jonson added.

Earlier, Julie Kozack, Director of Communications at the International Monetary Fund, said that in the coming days, the organisation would discuss granting Ukraine a new loan of $8.1 billion.
