Swakopmund is the capital of the Erongo Region in Western Namibia and is around a four hours drive from the capital, Windhoek. Usually if travelling to Swakopmund as part of a road trip as the majority of travellers, then three to four days is enough time to get a great feel for the area. The most cost-effective and easiest way to travel around Namibia is by car. Most overseas travellers will collect their vehicles at Windhoek airport and embark on a road trip spanning the country. The open kitchen also adds an element of drama as you can see the meat being cooked. They also serve with this a side of onion rings. One of the best restaurants in Swakopmund and located on the waterfront, Ocean cellar of course has a great range of seafood but also some great options. The menu is extensive and caters well for vegetarians. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating and are on hand to pair your food with local and South Africa wines.
