When it arrived, it did not work at all. It takes 3 watch type batteries. I did not have them on hand, so I decided to try to change them before returning it and it did start working with new batteries. You should figure the cost of new batteries as part of the purchase price.

Bless you guys for creating this. My kids watched them hatch, hop around, and then stuffed them back in to rehatch over and over for 2 hours. It was the best surprise egg yet. Very sweet. Thanks. I will totally be giving these to everyone I know come Easter time. I just love that you can do it over and over again. Perfect. Much better than the small hatchimals that you have to crack open and then don't do anything, or the large hatchimals that hatch once... and then aren't played with. So thanks. We've had them all and these are perfect for the price. Adore!

This small which is great considering how much room toys take up. I bought it for my granddaughter who is 5 years old. I like the fact of how easy it is to play with repeatedly. Made of durable plastic. This would make anyone happy to receive as a gift.

I'm not sure yet. It did not make a peep or a chirp. Sat quietly looking confused. Returned and ordered another. It looks adorable if I get one that works the grandson will love it!

Not as pictured. I did not receive one with orange feet and beak, and a sun design on each turquoise wing. What I received has pastel green feet and beak, and lavender wings with feathers printed on it. Seems overpriced as a gadgety toy, but I bought it more cuz I thought it was cute and the design made me smile. What I got doesn't do it for me.

I was very excited to get this for my niece, but when it came time for him to hatch nothing happened. The batteries were dead. Very dissapointed.

This is a wonderful little toy.. I got this for my little grandson & his parents & us had to hold our sides from laughing so hard at our grandsons. The facial expressions & laughter were over the top when the chick came out & started walking & singing. The 4 year old now has 5 & spends a couple hours a day playing with them... love it & would recommend them...

This is an awesome toy. My kids (ages 4 and 6) are obsessed with it. Unlike the hatchable( which we like too), it rehatches over and over again.

Missing items from package

The toy itself was missing from the package. It was just stuck with tape to cover up that it had been opened already

I recieved this surprise chick with my order from McMurray Hatchery. I have 2 Blue Andalusian, 3 Whiting True Blue, 6 Red Stars and 3 Buff Orpingtons. Google lenses is saying this one might be a Whiting True Blue. What do y'all think?

It could be a whiting true blue. Either that, or one of their other new hybrids that lay colored eggs.

Would need clear pics of comb & wattles to make the best guess on gender, but it looks pretty good for a pullet.

Agreed, that's the 'true blue'... which is an easter egger. So it could lay green, if female.

I thought the true blues laid blue eggs

I think they're bred to, but it depends on whatever is mixed with where ever the blue egg gene comes from. If there's a brown layer in there, then green. If a white layer, then blue.

surpise chick

I walked outside to check on my chickens this evening and to my shock and surprise there was a baby chick!
None of my girls have ever been very broody but it looks like they pulled one over on me! I’ve identified the mother and it seems like she doing a good job taking care of her. The other chicken aren’t paying her any attention as far as being aggressive.

So should I keep her with the mother and the others?

Everything online is conflicting some saying keep with the mother it’s the best. Others say put in a brood box until old enough.

I’ve set up a extra/separate food and water dish for now in the run of the hen house so the chick has easier access. The rooster and the other chickens have been out in the yard most of the day. Mother chick and baby chick didn’t come out into the yard until I went out there earlier and discovered her.

Extra options tips and trick are appreciated. I’ve never hatch my own chick before for this is new for me.

Side note: the mother chicken is an Easter egger and the father is a sliver laced polish

If the rest of the chickens are leaving her alone I would just leave them out. I generally pen moms and chicks separately for one to two weeks just for safety and to give them a chance to bond well. It can be more important when there are lots of chicks as they can get lost. One chick is easier on a hen to keep track of.

In the end it all depends on how you feel about the situation and the safety of the chick in the current situation. Only you can judge that and every situation is different that why there's conflicting information.
