Support a girl child’s education with Save the Children.

When you educate a girl, you educate a family – a popular saying that one usually notices in ads on billboards, busses, trains, local locations, and autos, etc. that propagate girl child education. A family, in this case, is only an understatement, what you do when you educate a girl is that you enable a whole generation to progress along with her; she not only retains the knowledge but also shares it with the family, which then permeates into the society adding to a larger good. But it is also sad to notice the state of affairs wherein opportunities - education, profession, and much more - for male and female counterparts is concerned. We must support girl child education.

We are aware of the biases that permeate our society, so much so, that female infanticide and foeticide are on an all-time rise despite lawful enactments. One must also be sentient that many female children are still not given their basic rights to education and medical care. We still hear cases of child marriages that smear society’s conscience and largely hinder the growth and development of the nation. Women, generally, have been at the receiving end of bigotry and mistreatment. Needless to say, it should be the government’s chief precedence to give power to women in a country like ours that has witnessed patriarchal domination for aeons.

We, as a society, have to collectively work to uplift the female child by working to eradicate issues like illiteracy, inequality, sexual harassment, female infanticide, and foeticide. The government of India, in 2015, launched the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme that aims to spread awareness regarding the dwindling Child Sex Ratio of India along with numerous other schemes that help women across states and union territories. ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme benefits the nation, which includes prevention of female infanticide where district authorities are required to efficiently supervise and ensure that the use of sex-determination tools by families and doctors is lawfully punished if acted upon.

Next, this scheme helps in developing new proposals and work cohesively to ensure that every girl child is secured and protected. This scheme also makes sure, through various efforts offers support girl child education. Various district-level education officials have to ensure that the benefit of free elementary education reaches all the girls in their areas. ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme benefit needs to reach the grass-root level too, and hence, it is garnering massive support from NGOs like Save the Children that foster girl child education and wellbeing. As conscientious members of society, it is our duty as well to supplicate, in any form, the betterment of girl children.

Donation to these causes is the easiest way that one can effectively bring about change. Support girl child education; play your part today.
