What this build can and cannot do

Email: Sample inbox works without secrets. Live Gmail needs GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID (or a sandbox token). Live Outlook needs a Graph token or Microsoft device-code login. Yahoo / iCloud are sample-only. Undo does not restore mail.

Calls: Protect a U.S. number on-device. Do Not Call is simulated. Quiet Shield is a demo list until Call Directory (iOS) or Call Screening (Android) is enabled on a real device. Quiet does not promise zero spoofs.

Brokers: Start with name + phone. Run check now advances jobs. A few official opt-out pages are checked with a dry-run GET (no PII posted). The rest of the catalog is simulated. Act now does not send email or upload an ID photo.

We will not claim live OS call blocking or live people-search deletions in store listings until those integrations are on.

Try the demo path (reviewers)

1. On Connect email, choose Gmail → Continue with sample inbox.
2. Scan, select a sender, Unsubscribe, then open Activity (Undo is a placeholder).
3. Stop the calls → Protect this number → 5550100142 → Register Do Not Call (simulated) → turn Shield on.
4. Remove your info → name + phone → Start removal → Run check now → Act now / Mark complete.

Common questions

Why didn’t robocalls stop? Shield is not installed in the OS until a Mac/device build enables Call Directory / Call Screening. See docs/native-calls.md in the Quiet repository.

Why didn’t I get a DNC confirmation email? This app does not contact donotcall.gov.

Did Quiet email a people-search site for me? Not in dry-run. Official adapters only GET a public opt-out page to see that it exists, then ask you to finish the site’s own form.

How do I delete my data? Settings → Disconnect inbox (if needed) → Delete data on this device.

How do I connect a real Gmail? Create OAuth clients, copy oauth.json.example to oauth.json (gitignored), run with --dart-define-from-file=oauth.json. See docs/oauth.md and the README.
