Claudia Schiffer and Stephanie Seymour just took the ultimate supermodel selfie.
The iconic ’90s models landed the covers of Vogue Italia’ s new August issue for which they each took their own selfies — while posing nearly naked.
In one photo, Schiffer posed completely nude, holding a clutch and heels over her private areas. In her second cover shot, she opted for a black blazer — sans underwear or bra.
Seymour followed suit with one completely naked photo, wearing only a necklace and black belt while a camera tripod was strategically-placed to cover her nether regions. In the second pic, she donned a feathery green coat with black dotted tights, while striking a dramatic pose.
The shoot, which is a tribute to the famed photographer Helmut Newton who often shot self portraits, puts the women in charge of their own image.
According to the press release, it’s a tribute to the “female gaze” and female empowerment and was supervised by photographer Collier Schorr.
“Because of who I am and who they are, I think these shoots are about women’s acknowledgement of their own sexuality, and is very different to the representation of desire, which is always connected to the maker of the picture,” Schorr wrote on Vogue Italia ‘s Instagram . “I think this was about Claudia, Stephanie’s and my relationships with our sexualities and bodies, and about being seen as older women.”
And Schiffer praised Schorr for the set-up. “In several cases I took the picture, obviously after it was prepared by Collier. She is above all an artist, and her point of view is sharp and very interesting — it starts from a completely different direction,” Schiffer says about collaborating with the photographer on set.
For Seymour, she said the shoot made her see herself in a multitude of ways.
“I see a mother. A wife. I see all the things I have to do in a day,” Seymour said in the release. “I see all my responsibilities. Growing up, responsibilities as a woman also grow. Being in control of your life is very important. I try not to think about myself but the people I have to take care of, my children, my friends, my company, my husband. I don’t like to think that the world revolves around me.”
This mark 25 years since the last time Schiffer graced the cover of Vogue Italia and 32 years for Seymour.
Schiffer most recently posed for Ba&sh’s spring campaign and made her return to the catwalk in September 2017 alongside Carla Bruni, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen at the Versace show to pay tribute to the late Gianni Versace on the 20th anniversary of his death .
Seymour posed nude in 2017 for Love magazine and made headlines in 2016 for getting into the great “ supermodel debate ” when she called today’s top models “bitches of the moment.”
She told Vanity Fair that Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are “completely different than we were.”
“Supermodels are sort of the thing of the past,” she said. “They deserve their own title. [Kendall and Gigi] are beautiful girls, and I support all of them, but they need their own title.” “Bitches of the moment!” she said (with a laugh). “That would be a good title for them.”
After backlash and a response from Jenner herself, Seymour apologized on Instagram saying her remarks were taken out of context and there was “no ill intent involved.”
“A supermodel is a supermodel,” she wrote. “I respect and admire all these women in my industry, in particular Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Having been in the business over 20 years I know how hard these women work. Bravo to both Gigi and Kendall for their success!!”
Schiffer told PEOPLE in February what the term supermodel means to her. “To me, it describes the models of the ’90s, which was a time in fashion no one had ever seen before. I would come up with a new term for the big models now that live and breathe social media, because it is very different.”
The August issue of Vogue Italia hits newsstands August 6th.

Remember that time Ashley Graham told us that while she wasn't afraid to pose nude, she wouldn't show "nip and bush" ? Seems like our former SI Swimsuit cover model has changed her stance on being photographed naked, and we definitely don't mind.
In an extremely revealing shoot for V Magazine , Ashley poses completely nude and opens up even more about her struggles with body image and how she learned to love herself early on in life.
"I think I hit bottom around 18," Ashley told Tracee Ellis Ross for V Magazine . "I was disgusted with myself and told my mom I was coming home [from New York]. And she told me, 'No, you’re not, because you told me that [modeling] was what you wanted and I know you’re supposed to do this. It doesn’t matter what you think about your body, because your body is supposed to change somebody’s life.' To this day that sticks with me because I’m here today and I feel that it’s okay to have cellulite."
The body advocate, and "new queen" of the fashion industry went on to reveal that she has two role models, one of which is a member of our own SI Swimsuit family.
"Today, I have two role models," Ashley explained. "One of them is my mom. Just seeing how happy she has been going through [life] and how she’s handled every curve ball is like, 'That’s a woman who has integrity and dignity and has been kind and generous to people around her.' Business-wise, it’s Kathy Ireland . She’s OG. When she was younger and in Sports Illustrated she was like, 'I’m going to sell some socks and make a business.' Now she has a billion-dollar company. Kathy Ireland, if you’re out there, I’m still trying to be your best friend. You’re on my vision board."

THE inside of the Dubai apartment that hosted a photoshoot featuring 40 nude models has been revealed.
The women, who are mainly from Ukraine, are facing up to six months' jail after being arrested when the footage of the shoot went viral.

Dubai police said they arrested a “group of people who appeared in an indecent video” on charges of public debauchery.
Videos and photographs showing the naked women, lined up on a balcony while being filmed, began circulating on social media on Saturday evening.
Pictures have now emerged showing the models lined up inside the apartment, in the city's upmarket Marina neighbourhood.
They are also seen from inside posing on the balcony in full view of the city.
As well as jail, those involved face fine of around £1,000 for violating public decency laws in the United Arab Emirates.
All of the models are understood to be from the ex-Soviet Union including Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.
There has been speculation that the women were involved in a shoot for an Israeli version of an unidentified US adult website.
A Russian man has also been detained and named as the organiser of the “lewd” shoot.
He is understood to claim he was in a nearby apartment and had filmed the spectacle showing the naked women.
TASS news agency later cited the Russian consul in Dubai as saying that a Russian man was being held in connection with the incident.
But a consulate source told Russian media outlet LIFE that no Russian women had been detained.
It cited a consulate source as saying: "According to the latest data received from the police of the Emirates, there are no Russian women among the detained.
“A Russian man was detained. According to the police, they suspect him of being one of those who sponsored the entire event."
State-linked newspaper The National reported it appeared to be a publicity stunt, without elaborating.
It came as a shock in the UAE where tamer behaviour, like kissing in public or drinking alcohol without a license, has landed people in jail.
Dubai police said those arrested over the indecent video have been referred to public prosecutors.
The UAE's public decency laws, which cover nudity and other 'lewd behaviour', carry penalties of up to six months in prison and a 5,000 dirham (£983) fine.
The sharing of pornographic material is also punishable with prison time and a fine of up to 500,000 dirhams under the country's laws, which are based on Islamic law, or Shariah.
The pictures came as a shock in the federation of seven Arab sheikhdoms, where tamer behaviour - like kissing in public or drinking alcohol without a licence - has landed people in jail.
Any person who lives in or visits the UAE is subject to its laws and there are no exceptions for tourists.
2017, a British woman was sentenced to one year in prison for having consensual sex with a man she wasn't married to.
“Such unacceptable behaviours do not reflect the values and ethics of Emirati society,” said police in a statement.
The UAE, while liberal in many regards compared to its Middle Eastern neighbours, has strict laws governing expression and social media.
People have been jailed for their comments and videos online.
The country's majority state-owned telecom companies block access to major pornographic websites.
Dubai also has strict social media laws that make it an offence to insult others or even use language where people feel insulted.
The laws also forbid anything “defamatory” against the UAE and this can even include the reporting of a news article.
A woman from Surrey, Laleh Shahravesh , 55, is facing jail for calling her Dubai-based ex-husband an “idiot” and his new wife “a horse” under the Gulf state’s draconian social media laws.
Those who’ve fallen foul of the laws in the past include a Brit Yaseen Killick, jailed after venting anger on WhatsApp after being sold a car that broke down.
US fitness professional Jordan Branford was slapped with a nearly £60,000 fine after using the word “bitch” on Instagram, which his ex-wife believed was referring to her.
Glitzy Dubai has been in the headlines after reality TV stars and social media influencers flouted lockdown rules to sun themselves on its beaches.
Earlier this year they were still promoting parties there even after a coronavirus spike forced all pubs and bars to shut.
But critics have slammed so-called influencers for not doing proper work – insisting they should not be travelling abroad while the majority of Brits are locked down at home.
