If so, how did yous find it? When i was there the currency was the Lev not sure about the spelling everything was dirt dirt cheap. One very good thing about Sunny beach a lot of the tourists are from Scandinavia norway, sweden ,denmark the Bursds where amazing. Regarding the food, outside every hotel there was bbq like stove thingy which at night the place did reek a bit from all the meat being cooked, but the food ok they like to put cheese on everything. Very cheap for drinks, not that many clubs though. Beach is lovely and guaranteed weather whenever you go. Just the annoying folk outside resturants trying to get you to come in. Stick to the central parts though, it's quite a shitey place once you start venturing out of the main bit. Holiday'd in Golden Sands about 16 years ago, yeah everything was cheap as chips, well actually cheaper than chips come to think of it , as the guy above said 'Don't go a wondering outside the resort' it's pretty grim. Was there 3 years ago but I went with the ex even though it would be far better with a group of lads! As somebody said earlier most of the tourists are Scandinavian and the bursds are stunning!! Went to a place called the happy Viking where they encouraged the girls to dance naked on the bar. Meals and drinks were dirt cheap, 40p for a pint of the local lager and about 6 quid for a decent meal. They all try and coax you to go in which is v annoying. Beach is brilliant, full of topless Swedish girls, fun water sports and beach parties at night but only go to one you have a ticket for. One thing I noticed is there are a lot of child beggars and mafia about so watch your back. I've heard stories of a guy comin back with one kidney and so on. I had a polava tryin to get a pub to put the hearts Zagreb game on and the guy that sells football strips said he was sold out of hearts strips Tried to offer me a Celtic one Get the boat to Nezzibar lots of wee restsurants and bars. Its 10 or more years since I was there with family. We had a great holiday but as has been mentioned watch your back. It was like being on the Costas in the seventies. Big black cars outside and everything. True story. It never made the press because he was in the wrong himself. He went to a drug den and woke up miles away with stitches and one kidney. I was sceptical but but he showed me the scar. Might have done it on a quadbke and tried to romanticise it but he's not the type. I don't expect anybody to believe this tbh! The Mafia are everywhere, but i never seen any trouble. Everything is dirt cheap. One thing i hated was having to pay to get into toilets, its not much, but on a night out, you can go to the toilet quiet a few times. There is a bar called Central, its awsome. Its right in the middle of the street. Theres a wee burd called Nicole who works there, tidy. Also, there are afew folk walking about with fresh fruit in the street, let you chomp away, then charge mental prices. Agree a price first. There in gangs and once you atart eating, they surround you untill you give them the cash. My mate got done for 20 lev. They are the 'cherry men' just ignore them and youl be fine. Viking, club orange and lazure are quality. Lazur has a pool in it. Some jerry was acting the dick, flexing his guns and what not infront of these burds at the pool, in tue middle of the club. You could imagine his rage when mid pose, i shoved him in the pool. As previously mentioned cheap bevy, tidy bursd and decent clubs. Den Glade Viking and Lazur both definetly worth at least two visits. Lazur had a foam cannon on every night went and at least 12 different bars in it and hundreds of seats outside for chatting up bursd. That was definetly the highlight of my holiday was the burds. Really easy to chat to and loved the scottish accent, even the lads from the continent are much sounder than here ended up having a 10 minute convo with one ADO Den Haag fan about De Vries. Only thing to watch out for is some of the mafia guys in the clubs, two of my mates ended up in a dodgy deal with four mafia guys - which in hindsight was pretty funny. Having been on a few lads holidays- Malia etc- Sunny beach was much better, especially without the whole 'Brits abroad' thing but still having the party atmosphere. Plus when you can be smashed for a fiver you cant go wrong. Bulgaria is fantastic. Sunny beach is fantastic. Everything is cheap and the women are unbelievably stunning. Clubs are fantastic you can rock about the place with a dirt cheap bottle of Jack in your hand topping up all the pretty ladies drinks I want to move to Bulgaria but like said before it can quickly turn into the wild west. No gun stickers on the front door of shops. Bullet ridden buildings in the outskirts. Taxi drivers will take you all round the houses and dump you in a shit hole if you don't pay there ransom so beware before getting in and offer them a good Bulgaria fee which would be a quarter of your taxi journey here before your journey is agreed. Hooked up with a couple of property developers that took me all over the country to sketchy places. So seen a lot of the out of tuwn stuff. Can be a little scary from time to time but all in all love the place. Hooked up with some local woman and had the guided tour of an eastern commie building block. Surprisingly large and spacious. Electric and heating etc go on and off to the block when some outside authority decides. But adds to the charm and adventure. He was such a good customer they painted him on the wall. Same as anywhere, as long as you don't act a dick then you should be fine. Prozzers pick your pockets on the street, I know 4 people it has happened to on the main strip. Also know two people who had been pulled into dark corners by prozzers then only to be battered and mugged by a few big guys waiting for them. Been twice but I'll never go back - it is good for going with a group of pals and if you go about acting like a total someone will most likely dish it out to you but I prefer more relaxing holidays now and Sunny Beach definitely isn't in that category. Had to rescue the bird once because a 50 something year old fat Bulgarian boy was putting his foot in the way of the door to stop her shutting it when she was going to the toilet and three boys with bongo drums and flutes etc tried to rob us until a restaurant owner came out and chased them off! Lazur was decent enough a boy from Dundee broke his neck diving in when we were there and last I'd heard they had stopped people going in the pool at night? Club Orange was so brutal it was funny. I've kinda rambled but you'll be fine as long you don't try and buy drugs off of taxi drivers they have a tendancy to kidnap them and drop them off in the old town and it isn't the best place in the world to cut about alone. There's a thread for that kind of discussion. So did you rape her or not. Went 4 years ago great place, there is a restaurant on the road behind the main strip you cant miss it as all the locals queue to get in and its well worh the wait. I got the twin swords which is two massive skewers full of all sorts of meat, we had everything and it still only came to? Nessibar is good if your going with the burd not if its the lads. The wife is thinking about Bulgaria later this year, but it doesn't exactly sound like the place to take a 9 year old daughter, is there anywhere to go apart from lads and lassies looking for STD's? There's 2 water parks and there's a few nice wee traditional towns only 20mins away from sunny beach. Not sure what other citys are like but if they're anything like the derelict areas of SB i'd avoid it. Been there twice when I was 2 and 4. Both times we had to drive through checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. I'm guessing it's changed somewhat since then. I remember my dad changing pounds for handfulls of local currency which would have been useful if there had been anything to buy in the shops. Its a great family resort, stick to the main areas and its no different from any Spanish or Greek resort, probably better and cheaper. Was excellent! I'd imagine it will be more popular now. The locals are great and the Bulgarian women are something else mate! Don't mess with the Russians though! They run the show! Have a good one. Cheers lads, sounds decent. I went to Bulgaria in with the Wife. We went to Duni. Turns out it was a complex with 5 Hotels and miles from Sunny Beach etc It was a really nice hotel but it was so boring. They had a night club playing all this German pish. I was arguing with the DJ trying to get him to play some 70's stuff. Got flung out a few nights. The wife was crying after 2 days wanting to go home. Weather was pish. The only other entertainment was a couple singing the songs from Grease Turns out there were 12 British people including us the rest were all Germans! We went to Sunny Beach or Goldan Sands I forget for the day and although it was better it's not somewhere I'd ever go again. It was maybe cheap but it was not my cup of Tea. Guy at my work went last year and was approached by a dirty in Sunny Beach offering him a ride while he was walking with his wife and kid. Classic Beats. Save your strength mate. If you're going there for drink and birds it's perfect. No they still have their own currency. All in all I loved it and would love to go back with mates but not a bursd. Any questions just ask. Tazio Posted June 5, Look out for the mafia hotel. Looks straight out of the films. And stories is all it is, I'm no expert but I think that may have made the press. John McClure Posted June 5, Theres a wee burd called Nicole who works there, tidy Also, there are afew folk walking about with fresh fruit in the street, let you chomp away, then charge mental prices. Chewie Posted June 6, Posted June 6, Was there last summer with the lads But have been about 4 times in total As previously mentioned cheap bevy, tidy bursd and decent clubs. Phage Posted June 6, Guest C00l K1d Posted June 6, A prostitute approached me in sunny beach and tried to discuss prices. I was 14 Proudest moment of my life. Guy at my work went last year and was approached by a dirty in Sunny Beach offering him a ride while he was walking with his wife and kid Would be ok for a lads holiday but not one for a family or even as a couple. My opinion anyway! Finbar Saunders Posted June 9, Vlad-Stupid Posted June 9, Beats Posted June 10, Posted June 10, Moonheid Posted June 10, I'm going in a few weeks, a huge family holiday. Loads of bairns going. Hope it's decent. Archived This topic is now archived and is closed to further replies. Go to topic listing. Sign In Sign Up.
