I would like to see Cooper come out of himself and get some healing, but I don't think Andy should be it:

The way Cooper has basically off-loaded all of his neuroses and hang ups onto Andy is nothing short of abusive, and that it's continued into adulthood to such a degree is massively concerning.

The guy doesn't need Andy; he needs a break and he needs a world class therapist.

God, yes. This x100. But? That would contradict traditional Romance tropes, *especially* in M/M romance. The bigger an abusive jerk a guy is? The more he needs to be "fixed" by a relationship instead of therapy or self-care.
However.
1) Jackaloo has demonstrated he knows exactly what he's doing, so I'll trust the writer-artist.
2) After hearing his podcast interview, we can confirm that he is *not* a 24-49 year old straight white woman, which is the demographic that reads, and writes, 90+% of M/M romance. So there's a good chance he won't follow the tropes or GFY (Gay For You) cliches.

Calling someone a waste of time isn’t a very nice thing to say though. you wouldn’t like it if someone called you that. Let people have their opinions. This comic is out for public reading for anyone to take how they will. Don’t sink to name calling just because someone isn’t having the same experience as you.

Not a very stable way to get along with someone, but it is very stimulating.

I had this kind of relationship with a person, but they never really could come to terms with how they really felt. And I was holding back a mess load of feelings too and couldn't let them out because "that's not what guys do" apparently. So we just took shots at each other and kinda rode the hate. But then it reached a breaking point and rather than talk about it he just started avoiding me.

We both were pretty dumb back then. I wonder how he is these days. It's a rare person that makes you wanna hug them tightly and punch their lights out at the same time. Cooper is so much like him. I just hope he becomes honest with himself and doesn't screw his life up like my friend did.

I like this development, but it's making the inevitable "Andy & Cooper" relationship seem so unbelievable.

They literally spent a their lives as on-again, off-again "friends", and now this intense rivalry. It's a great turn, but we know they're gonna end up together, right...?

I'm reeeeeeally hoping Jack doesn't pull some deus ex machina stuff and magically make them this super compatible relationship after some life altering event / something similar.

When friendship becomes rivalry.

I personally love that little touch of “I don’t even know how to finish that sentence”. It is just such an odd situation between the two of them, such a large pool of answers could have been given for that sentence. Yet I think ‘none of the above’ style answer actually works here!

Not exactly the healthiest way of going about this, Coop =/ It explains a lot of things, but it doesn't excuse it.

Cooper was doing it all out of love though, he wants to be with Andy deep down

"I don't even know how to finish that sentence." I love Cooper as the narrator.

For a minute I was starting to think that Cooper was eventually gonna do something to Andy that would be the last straw.

And so was born the saga of their idiotic rivalry.

"It was the only thing that kept us... I don't even know how to finish that sentence."

So, a preface, I'm Homestuck trash. Bash it all you want, but one thing that comic instilled in me was a different perspective on relationship dynamics. I feel torn on these two's relationship mainly because it's built on a toxic, shaky foundation, and Cooper is often simply an abusive asshole towards Andy.

However, that's not to say the direction I'm seeing their relationship take in this page is a bad thing. Getting back to the Homestuck stuff, one of the dynamics I felt more accepting of was rivalries quite like this (kismesis/pitch relationships). Because, to finish Coop's sentence for him, it was what kept the two of them moving forward as people - when you have someone lighting a fire under your ass and you do it right back, there's only one direction for either to go in.

There's an inherent danger, however, as a rivalry can easily go from beneficial to toxic if emotions go unchecked and someone takes it too far - someone can get hurt physically or emotionally, undoing the progress made. And in the main comic, we've seen a bit of this so far - Coop tried to sabotage Andy before that speech, but it backfired and Coop resented Andy for getting a new job and lover out of what was supposed to be Andy crashing and burning.

So, I can only hope that despite everything, either Coop owns up to his feelings to Andy and they work towards healing, and/or the rivalry continues in a healthy manner.

Hmm. This is the first narrative being used in the comic. Whose narration is that... and does that mean this is being told to somebody?

Also, is the Chelsea the same Chelsea?

All I can see when looking at panel two is Sheen...

i enjoy how, in panel 4.3, andy just truly isn't having any of cooper's "fucking shit" at all \\ whereäs cooper...

...well, the little pervert there rather seems to be enjoying himself — isn't it?

When a bet from an old frenemy backfires, he finds himself being given an offer he can't refuse from an older gentleman. Is he willing to take the risk for a fantastic new job, or has he found new reasons to invest himself? VOLUME 2 (COMPLETE) : Taking place immediately after Volume 1, an impulsive act causes a rift in the group. Cooper and Andy find themselves in a strange place in the new year as Cooper begins his first steps in getting his act together. When a connection leads him to an interesting new side job, Cooper's faced with some insecurities he has never overcome. Meanwhile, Waldren and Andy fall into their own challenges as they begin to discover more about each other and themselves than they had ever known before. VOLUME 3 (IN PROGRESS) : With Rail undergoing a sudden change, will Cooper step into the limelight beside River? Can Andy figure out his relationship with... anyone? Where will Emery find his place in all this? Find out as more pages come out in current time!
