Thoughts on Summer 2024 animes.

So we meet again. After watching about 30 new animes here's my take on them. Opinions are purely mine. Updated August 25th

Recommended

Ore wa Subete wo [Parry] Suru

• Fun to watch the humble MC.

Make Heroine ga Oosugiru! / Makein

• Funny, cute and interesting heroines. Fresh new concept. Great visuals from the same team that made Kaguya-sama.

Shoushimin Series

• What is normal? How to be normal? Watch this masterpiece to experience it. Episode 1 left a scar on my heart. Hina Youmiya 💖

Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria

• Cliche magic school trope with an OP MC who can't use magic (sounds familiar?). Good character design and animation.

2.5 Jigen no Ririsa / Nigoriri

• Very relatable otaku MC. MC isn't a degenerate since he still considers liking real girls instead of just 2D. Cuuute heroines with real idol voice actors!

Isekai Shikkaku

• Funny party members like in Konosuba. A stupid goddess, a kouhai type cat girl. Gotta love the unique MC who wishes to die.

Okay

Tokidoki Bosotto Russiago de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san / Roshidere

• MC is a decent. Heroine is really cute, soft and warm. Sumipe excelled her role. Gets boring after a while.

Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi / Nigewaka

• I usually find historical animes boring but this anime has a different vibe to it. Episode 1 and 2 was OK but gets boring at episode 3.

Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan

• Episode 1 was quite funny. Episode 2 and 3 starts to get dull. Maybe I don't like slapstick comedy.

Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai Shite Ita. / Mahoaku

• Unique concept, no stupid drama and cute characters. Wholesome romcom between archdemon and magical girl.

Isekai Suicide Squad

• I don't know anything about DC universe but the casts are amazing.

[Oshi no Ko] 2nd Season

• I had high hopes in this one but the first 3 episodes starts off very slow

Boku no Tsuma wa Kanjou ga Nai

• Fun and wholesome romcom with a robot housewife. Good ED song 👍

Mixed feelings

ATRI: My Dear Moments

• Episode 1 starts off quite fine, episode 2 quite okay. The animation is average. The characters lack novelty. I don't know. I will drop this anime and wait for future reviews.

Mayonaka Punch

• Nothing special about this. Had high expectations from a PA Works original. Cool character design. Gotta support Hina Youmiya 🐑.

Bye Bye, Earth

• Dropped after episode 2. Need more time to evaluate. Just a typical man vs monster anime for now. Minority race theme. Fairouz Ai 💪

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededededestruction

• Another typical man vs monster anime.

Mob kara Hajimaru Tansaku Eiyuutan

• Gotta love these cunnies but generic fantasy. Weak MC.

Gimai Seikatsu

• Too realistic for an inseki anime. I'm watching anime to escape, not to reflect on reality

Dropped after first episode

Naze Boku no Sekai wo Daremo Oboeteinai no ka? / Nazeboku

• Boring first episode. Why would I go through the first half if I know they'll be forgotten later anyways? Poor direction.

VTuber nanda ga Haishin Kiri Wasuretara Densetsu ni Natteta

• The first episode was fine, but it gets boring from episode 2 as expected.

Koi wa Futago de Warikirenai

• Twins falling in love with the same guy isn't my cup of tea.

Giji Harem

• Fun to watch but her acting gets repetitive and boring after a while. Sorry tsundere-chan but I'll have to let you go.

Isekai Yururi Kikou

• Another slow life isekai.

Kono Sekai wa Fukanzensugiru

• Awful character design. Generic fantasy now comes with QA Analyst Software Tester.

Shinmai Ossan Bouken-sha

• Generic fantasy now comes with buff middle aged man.

Elf-san wa Yaserarenai

• Fat elf wasted my time

Senpai wa Otokonoko

• Not going into details but technically a BL anime

Maou Gun Saikyou no Majutsushi wa Ningen datta

• Ainz Ooal Gown from Temu. Generic fantasy anime that won't ever get S2

Na-Nare Hana-Nare

• Cheerleading. Parkour. CGCT. High potential anime with hints of darkness from the director of BanG Dream It's MyGO. High expectations from a PA Works original but episode 2 let me down.

Tasuketsu

• EDGY MC. I'm so tired of this Ousama Game kinda anime.

Hazurewaku

• EDGY MC. The story is probably written by a middle schooler.

Foot note:

What's generic fantasy? -- yet another mass-produced isekai/fantasy with little to no unique element.

All in all this season is full of both good animes and trash animes.
