Sudan may increase gold reserves to 2,000 tons
According to the head of the Chamber of Gold Exporters, the real resources of Sudan are higher than the official 1,500 tons — 2,000 tons. New geological surveys reveal unaccounted-for deposits.
In 2025, 70 tons of gold were mined in the country. At the same time, only 20 tons were officially exported, the remaining 50 tons (71%) went into the shadows or were smuggled.
If the forecasts are confirmed, Sudan will become one of the leaders in African gold mining, equaling Ghana, South Africa and Mali.
