Oct. 3—HIGH POINT — Youve heard of a tempest in a teapot? Well, get ready for The Tempest and a wine glass. Shared Radiance Performing Arts Company, a Triad-based theater group, will present Shakespeare and a Beverage! featuring a production of the bards well-known play The Tempest — and, of course, a beverage — Thursday evening at Nomad Wine Works, 432 N. Wrenn St. The event begins at 6 p.m. on the patio. Each attendee will receive the beverage of his or her choice from the winery, which offers a wide selection of wines, ciders and beers, as well as options for those who prefer a non-alcoholic beverage. The Tempest is considered to be Shakespeares final play that he authored alone. Its a tale of betrayal, redemption and forgiveness, and this production will feature innovative music. Shared Radiance is a nonprofit performing arts troupe known for performing in unexpected venues (such as Nomad Wine Works). Now in its 10th year, the troupe performs classic and original plays but leans heavily toward the works of Shakespeare, presenting interactive, often experiential versions of his plays. The company was founded by Sherri Raeford, its artistic director, who formed the group based on her internship and time at Shakespeares Globe Theatre in London and the concepts she learned about Shakespeares original practices. As in Shakespeares time, Raeford points out, the audience for Shared Radiance performances is often in the light with the actors, thus the name Shared Radiance. Based in Pleasant Garden, Shared Radiance is a member of the North Carolina Theatre Conference, the Shakespeare Theatre Association and the NC Triad Theatre League. Tickets for this production are $30 apiece and can be purchased online by visiting EventBrite.com and searching for Shared Radiance. View comments
