The post-game section of this page naturally contains some spoilers, so be aware when scrolling or jumping to that part!
To start this Hero Quest, you'll need to have progressed through the main story enough to have unlocked climbing up walls. You'll be able to do this after helping Valdi.
Getting here can be tricky if you haven't unlocked the nearest landmarks, so it's best to have your route marked out and follow this. Completing A Nopon's Counsel earlier will have unlocked the Aquifer Exhaust fast travel point, so this is the place to head if you haven't opened up the rest of the map. From here, it will feel like it's taking you further away from the marker, but just stick to the highlighted route.
If you're grinding, there's nothing stopping you from unlocking Alexandria earlier on in Chapter 3 or Chapter 4 ! If you're tackling all the side quests along the way, you can actually reach Level 40 in Chapter 3 .
You will only be able to discuss the information at City Camp. If you're having trouble finding City Camp, it's west of the Remembrance Stones and north of the Caelum Residential Quarter.
SPOILER WARNING That's all for the Heroes you can unlock in the Main Story of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 . Just a warning that the following section contains post-game spoilers, so if you're not ready to see them, now's your chance to click away!

Looking for Heroes to unlock in a particular chapter?

Heroes in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are unique characters that can only be added to your party once they and their class have been unlocked. These are not playable characters, so you won't be able to control them, but they can and will help you out along the way. In order for these Heroes to assist you as the seventh member of your team, there are a number of special Hero Quests for you to complete.

This feature won't appear until chapter 3 of the main story . where your first Hero Quest has to be completed to further the narrative. Some Hero Quests are a mandatory part of the main story, whilst others you'll have to go and find. Quest-Related Event markers will appear on the map, showing you where you can potentially find a new hero to recruit. You'll also find that some Hero Quests have specific conditions that must be met in order to unlock the Hero, such as unlocking certain skills before you can reach them.

The table below includes the names of the Heroes you can unlock when you're playing through Chapter 3 . Clicking any linked Hero's name will take you to their individual page, which details their class and skills. Clicking on the link for the Hero Quest will take you to the section of this page that explains how to unlock them.

To unlock Ethel as a Hero, you'll want to follow the main story in Chapter 3 . When you reach the part of the mission that tells you to head to Galghour's Menhir , you'll have to climb to the top of it. When you get to the peak, you can speak to Commander Ethel.

After speaking to Ethel, you'll want to head for the Agnian Supply drop. When you reach it, you'll engage in battle against an Agnian squad, where Ethel will help you fight them. Continue on to the Supply Drop after you've taken down the Agnian squad, then defeat the next set of enemies you'll encounter. Once this fight is finished, you'll pick up the supplies and return to Colony 4 . When you're back at Colony 4, the mission will be complete.

As you continue the main story you'll go to Elsie's Spout , where you'll meet Valdi. A battle ensues as you defeat Valdi and the Keves Unit that he runs. Once you've defeated them, Valdi will ask for your help.

You'll then be asked to collect parts for Valdi's Levnis. When you've gathered the parts, go back to Elsie's Spout . The next step will be to follow the Mini-Levnis to locate Valdi again. The Mini-Levnis will direct you straight to Colony 30 .

Here, you'll take on Consul Q with the help of Valdi as a healer. Once you've defeated Consul Q, the Flame Clock will be destroyed and Colony 30 will be liberated. This will allow you to recruit Valdi as a Hero and complete the mission.

This Hero Quest begins as you reach the Urayan Tunnels . The first directive you'll receive is to go to Elevator No.1 . When there, you'll try to use it and realise it doesn't work. The next task is to then collect the necessary parts to fix the elevator.

When you do this, you'll be able to ride this down to the mine. Riku will ask for you to search the area and collect gemstones and ore. You'll need to inspect three glowing rocks, and Riku will discuss your findings with each one. You'll be told that you haven't got gemstones or ores from any of the rocks, so you need to continue searching further into the tunnel.

As you progress, you'll reach a camp. Rest and continue the Hero Quest, following on the path past all the spiders until you're ambushed by Princess Arachno. During this fight, Riku and Manana will help you and once Princess Arachno is defeated, they'll be unlocked as Heroes for you to use.

After unlocking Ethel and returning to Colony 4 , head to the Central Yard and listen in on the conversation. This will give you new information that you can take back to the barracks to discuss. Once you've discussed it with the rest of the team, this will automatically unlock the quest Where the Heart Is.

Head to the marker Alfeto Valley just before Yzana Plains. Here you'll encounter Zeon and the Colony 9 Expedition, which you'll need to defeat. When you've beaten them, Zeon will join your party and you'll make your way to Colony 9.

Speak to Zeon and you'll shortly depart with him, off to Everblight Plain . Once you reach your destination, you'll need to fight an Agnus Strike Force team. There are two rounds to this battle, where you'll have various enemies to take down before you can progress the quest. Once you've defeated everyone, you can continue back to Colony 9 .

Make your way to the front gate of Colony 9 , and let the cutscene play out where you'll be faced with Moebius B. Beat this mini-boss to complete the quest and unlock Zeon.

Go to the question mark in the Gura Flava Lowlands in Alfeto Valley . When you get there, you'll stumble upon a fight taking place between a Keves patrol and Kyrie from Colony Gamma . By helping her out in the fight, you'll unlock the Hero Quest Going Beyond Power.

After defeating the patrol and helping Kyrie, head to Colony Gamma . Once here, you'll need to gather information from three different places. There will be quest markers that appear, to point you in the right direction. Find somewhere to rest and discuss the information once you've acquired it all.

When this is done, go and speak to Teach in the office. Leave Colony Gamma , then make your way towards the marker, which will take you to Transcendent Retreat in Melnath's Shoulder . A boss battle will ensue here, against Moebius G, with Teach helping you out. After this fight, head back to Colony Gamma , which will mark the mission as complete and unlock Teach.

Make your way to the question mark that's located near Kamos Guidepost , in the east of the region. You'll find it in Murmur Rise in Milick Meadows , which you can climb up to by using the cliff near Kamos Guidepost. Once here, you'll encounter a Mystery Man that you need to fight.

Once you've knocked down the Mystery Man's health to around the halfway mark, a second fight will begin with a group of Colony 23 Patrol. The Mystery Man will help you during this battle, and once it's over, disappear. You'll be tasked with following his footprints. Keep interacting with the tracks as you encounter them, to keep on the right trail for the Mystery Man.

When you catch up to him, it's not long before you have another battle with a Colony 23 Patrol to take on. As the fight finishes, the Mystery Man reveals himself to be Gray and the mission is complete, unlocking Gray as one of the Heroes for you to add to the party.

The table below includes the names of the Heroes you can unlock in Chapter 4 .

This Hero Quest will appear as you continue the main story into Chapter 4 and head towards Maktha Wildwood . As you continue to follow the path, you'll be ambushed by the Mystery Agnus Ninjas, which triggers the beginning of this Hero Quest automatically.

A fight will begin with the ninjas and Juniper. When you beat them, they'll run away and you'll be asked to follow the Mystery Agnian Trail. Doing this will take you all the way to Colony Tau .

Speak to Juniper, and during the conversation, monsters will appear at the entrance of the Colony. Make your way back to the entrance to fight alongside Juniper, and help Colony Tau and the Agnian Troops. Once this battle is over, Juniper will be unlocked as a new Hero.

Go to the Quest Event-Related Marker in Syra Hovering Reefs to begin the quest. Shortly after approaching this marker, you'll have to fight a group of 7th Levnis Troops. When this battle is over, you can speak to Ashera and she'll temporarily join the party for you to take on Team Zoren together.

After these two battles, proceed further across First Ixia Bridge and you'll be met with Team Easel. Defeat them, then continue on to reach the final group of enemies you need to battle - Team Clad. This won't be your last fight for Asher's Hero Quest, however, as quickly after finishing off Team Clad, you'll have to take on Moebius R inside Colony 11 .

Speak to Ashera again once you've taken down Moebius R (you'll need to climb a nearby tower) and her quest will be marked as complete, unlocking her for your Hero roster.

To start this quest, go to Colony Lambda in the Pentelas Region and speak to Commander Isurd in his office. During this conversation, there'll be a cave-in at a nearby mine that Isurd will need to clear. You'll offer your assistance, then be on your way to Mine No.3 Area in the Urayan Tunnels .

When you reach the mine, the main task is the remove the boulder that's blocking the path. First, you'll need to push the metal structure you'll see as you enter the area. This will drop it down between the gap in the bridge and allow you to follow the path further down into the mine. Keep following the path and use the elevator to make your way down to the boulder.

After moving the boulder, you can go inside Mine No.2 , where you'll be met with six Drifter Scorpox you'll need to fight. Kill all of these (and collect the Ether), then return to Commander Isurd's office in Colony Lambda and speak to him. This time, he'll ask you to go out to the cave in Pira Bluffs . Follow the marker until you reach the two Armadillos you'll need to fight. Killing both of these will signal the end of the quest and unlock Isurd as a Hero.

The table below includes the names of the Heroes you can unlock in Chapter 5 .

To begin this quest, you'll need to collect some information on Guernica Vandham. Head to the upper part of Great Sword, near the War Room to listen in on a conversation that can unlock the quest Vandham's Heir. Once you have the information, go somewhere to discuss it with the rest of the party. This will begin the Hero Quest.

Once the quest begins, return to the War Room and talk to Monica. She'll send you out and ask you to collect three belongings, which are:

You can find these marked on your map by points of interest in the Gura Flava Lowland s. After obtaining all three of the lost belongings, you'll need to travel to Swordmarch and to the Remembrance Stones . You'll talk to Monica here, and her quest will be marked as complete.

As you progress through Chapter 5 , you should continue the main story until you reach the Standard Quest: The Castle Beckons. This will give you access to the Boundary, a ship that will enable you to cross the Erythia Sea and reach the Quest-Related Event marker for Fiona. The one you want to head for is the most northern one in the Candensia Region .

As you approach the Quest-Related Marker, you'll see a small island called Conchrock Beach . Approach the marker and the quest will begin, where you'll find Fiona passed out on the beach. Fiona will ask for you to help to save the people of Colony Mu .

Four markers will appear when the quest begins. Go to the first three markers and send off the soldier's husks. When you reach the fourth one, there will be enemies for you to take on with Fiona. Take down all six of the Keves Strike Team. When the battle is over, Fiona will ask for one more favour - to destroy the Flame Clock for Colony Mu .

Go inside Colony Mu and head to the Bed of Woes and Wishes, then off to the Viewing Dock . There'll be a series of questions you can ask before you'll need to go around the Colony and collect information. Two markers will appear for you to collect information fragments. Once you've got them, go to the Canteen to discuss the Colony Mu Investigation, then speak to Fiona. It's not long before another fight begins against Moebius I and some False Volffs. Finishing the fight will reveal the Flame Clock. Return to the Bed of Woes and Wishes , talk to Fiona and the mission will be finished, unlocking her for your roster.

The chance to complete Tritons' Hero Quest becomes accessible at the same time as Fiona's Transparent Dreams quest. You'll need to have unlocked the Boundary so you can cross the Erythia Sea to Ishan Isle to begin this quest.

Ishan Isle is the first Quest-Related Marker you'll see from where you board the Boundary. It's just off to the north and marked on the map below.

When you reach Ishan Isle , you'll spot a Ferronis, another quest marker will then appear off to the northeast (the closest one to Ishan Isle ). You need to head over here, which is Hagan Point . Once at Hagan Point , you'll meet Triton and see the Ferronis again. This will unlock the Doing It My Way Hero Quest and Colony 15 .

The first step is to speak to Ronja back on Ishan Isle . Go back over there and talk to Ronja, who will ask you to defeat four Delit Gyaark around the Isle. Find each of the markers and take down each of the enemies. Return to Ronja when this is done and Triton will appear.

It's time to skip to another isle again now, but this time to Daedel Isle in the west.

Once here, talk to Lhukavu. Acquire the info on Booty? then find a rest spot to discuss it. Go back to Daedel Isle after you've discussed the booty and locate the following three items:

Markers will appear to guide you on where you can find them. When you have all three, return to Lhukavu. Choose one of the items to hand over and Triton will appear again. This time, he'll demand you come to Cape Archapor in the southeast. As you reach the isle, speak to Kio.

The next task is to examine the footprints. When you do, two sets will appear. Follow just one of these monster tracks. Do this until you reach the part of the isle where the Archapor Gogol is. Of course, you'll need to beat this monster to progress the quest. When this fight is over, you'll be heading straight off for a second one - this time with Triton at Colony 15 .

Make your way back to Colony 15 and locate Triton. Fight and defeat Triton and his crew. When the fight is over and you've won, you'll unlock Triton and his Soulhacker class.

Alexandria's quest is available from Chapter 3 but we've included it in our Chapter 5 table and section, as the enemies you'll encounter are around level 40+. If you're not grinding, you'll want to wait until Chapter 5 until you can finish the quest comfortably.

Go to Dies Arch , in the Fornis Region and a fight with Alexandria and her team will automatically trigger once you approach the arch and the Quest-Related Event marker. When the fight is over, more Quest-Related Event markers will appear across the Fornis and Pentalas Region. These are individual teams you can take on as part of this quest, which will reduce the support Alexandria has when you find her later on in Colony Iota .

You can find Alexandria's support teams in:

However, you can also just head straight to Dies Arch , and follow this to reach Colony Iota . When you reach Colony Iota , you should be met with Alexandria (and her team if you've skipped the individual fights) for another battle. Of course, it doesn't end with this fight, and Moebius E will appear shortly after Alexandria's defeat. Put an end to Moebius E and then follow Alexandria in Colony Iota. After the cutscene, go to the Colony Iota Ferronis and it'll signal the end of the quest and unlock Alexandria.
The table below includes the names of the Heroes you can unlock in Chapter 6 .

Unlocking Ghondor doesn't require the completion of any special Hero Quest. This will just happen automatically as you finish Chapter 5 and begin Chapter 6 .

Fairly early on in Chapter 6 , you'll be tasked with reaching Captocorn Peak. This Hero Quest for Miyabi, will be accepted automatically as you start your journey across the snowy landscape.

The first thing you need to do is rest at Tsang Camp to progress the story. When this is done, follow the route to Colony Omega in the southeast. Upon arrival, you'll be stopped by a number of soldiers i
