SUBMISSION IS NOT ENOUGH Masters and Mercenaries Book 12 Lexi Blake It was sweet Theo who had been given a direct order by his boss to kill the lovely surgeon Hope, whose father, Senator McDonald, had Ten captured and tortured. Can we guess Theo was conflicted? When he is fatally shot, he vows undying love to Erin the mother of his unborn son. He wakes up in a hospital; the brilliant surgeon who saved him against all odds, was Hope McDonald, the woman he had refused to shoot. Now he is her guinea pig, to condition and program to her own specs. Soon McKay-Taggart has rescued him and he wants to reassemble his life, but the headaches! He can't stand women to touch him, including Erin. His headache almost blinds him at the sound of her name. At Sanctum he is told her name is Red. That helps. The central issue is that memory erasing drug and the mind-control conditioning and massive profit it offers The Collective. Yes, they are up against that ubiquitous consortium that's looking at the unlimited profits from the drug. Betrayals and double dealing, then a white-knuckle conclusion.
Man was this one a tough read. I mean that in the best possible way. Action, drama, romance, pain, tragedy, love, betrayal, forgiveness. I could go on for pages trying to list all that flooded the pages of this book. It was so good! I don’t do spoilers in my reviews so I’ll keep it simple. Read it! If you liked any of the books in the series before this one, you must read this. It has appearances by so many characters. But it never loses sight of the mains. The setups for future stories are so well integrated it feels less like info dumps forced in and more like pieces that give just enough to make you want to know where that character could end up given their own chance to shine. Everything in this story was so tightly woven and kept my attention glued to the pages. So much emotion was wrung from me by the end. Definitely a surprise favorite in the series. Solid 5 stars this time.
Submission is Not Enough is one of the best Lexi Blake, Master and Mercenaries, books to date. Erin and Theo's story was so masterly crafted that you discover, or remember along with Theo, just how long ago their love story actually began. I always enjoy reminiscing with former characters, which Lexi has skillfully crafted within McKay-Taggert so no one ever is really forgotten, but this story went beyond just family get-togethers. Let me see if I can highlight why you will not be able to put this book down once you start. Theo and his twin brother, Case Taggert, joined the Master and Mercenaries series several books ago. The romance between Erin and Theo was not instantaneous, as a matter of fact, Erin pretty much hated every single thing that Theo did, that even including existing. That sounds like a perfect romance story you say. Yin and yang. Well, this went beyond opposites attract. Erin was a hollowed out, darkly seasoned, kill-you-for-looking-at-her-the-wrong-way bitch. That is probably putting it nicely. Ian Taggert loved every dirty, nasty quality about Erin, she was a hard working employee of his, she was sort of the female version of himself. Now his brother on the other hand was the complete opposite. Yes, Theo had been a Navy SEAL and former CIA operative, but he was also optimistic, Mr. Sunny sunshine lets make the world a better place. Ian didn't understand his brother one bit. I think he actually wondered if Theo was his brother on numerous occasions. If Theo didn't look just like him, I'm sure Ian would have ordered a DNA test. It was actually Ian's idea to pair Erin and Theo together on an assignment in hopes that Erin's hard ways would rub off on Theo. Not that they would actually rub off each other. He did have a business to run after all and he was getting tired of all of his field ops growing vaginas. Or at least losing his field operatives when they became family men. So potato-potatoe or something along those lines. I love Ian Taggert, which I believe I've said before. He says what's on his mind, yet he's also manipulative and sneaky. I can't get enough. Back to Erin and Theo. It wasn't until I was throughly engrossed in Submission is Not Enough that I truly began to realize just how long this love-hate relationship had been going on between Erin and Theo. You see, Lexi Blake does a beautiful job retelling their falling-in-love tale through their eyes as former stories take place around them. You get to revisit Faith and Ten from Master No along with Jesse and Phoebe from You Only Love Twice just to name a few. I loved hearing, not only a different side to old stories, but also reading a new one as well. The character growth for these two people has to be the biggest metamorphosis I've ever read. You expect every character you read to come out at the end a wiser and hopefully happier person because they finally have their true love. These two characters intersect and weave between the dark and light. The stark contrast of where you see one has complete darkness in their soul the other tries to fill it with light is poignant, there is no happy medium with these two. It is all or nothing and completely beautiful to watch. The ramifications of not being there for the other is almost more than you can stand. They have to complete the other. They just have to! Okay, panic attack abated and lastly I'll say normally the Master and Mercenaries books are filled with spy tales, espionage, and lots of mercenary stuff, which is exciting to read, but this book blended the past with the present in such a beautiful way that the spy stuff didn't overwhelm the heart of the story. Lexi is a master of layering her characters and plots where everything is very visual and I'm never left wondering who is who, aside from who might pop up in her next book. I love the anticipation and look forward to each and every installment.
The night Theo Taggart died he lost his family, the woman he loved and all memory of himself. The twisted doctor who saved his life had her own diabolical ambitions and intentions. Even though she reprogrammed his identity and memory there was still a part of him that resisted. When his brothers discovered that Theo was still alive nothing was going to prevent them from bringing him home -- not even this diabolical doctor and her intentions. Once Erin Argent learned that Theo is still alive she is willing to do whatever it takes to help his re-establish his memory and come to know his son. Regaining his memory will be torturous. While this doctor is determined to get back what she feels belongs to her, Erin and the Taggerts and just as determined to keep him where he belongs. Slowly Theo begins to regain his memory and will fight for his life and his family.
I just don't know where to start. So, they got Theo back and he came with a friend that had his memory easred.. Theo is trying to get his life back and his his friend Robert is trying to figure out where he fits in now that he is not with the evil Dr. McDonald anymore. Meanwhile Theo and Erin are trying to get their lives back together. Theo haven't even held his son but once and Erin told him that that didn't count because its easy to take care of a sleeping baby, it only counts if he is a wake.. One day Dr. Hope McDonald called Erin and she told her that she was going to get her prize back and her son. That's when Erin know that something was wrong and went looking for Theo. Erin, Big Tag and couple of other guys from Makay Taggart went to the park where Robert and Theo were supposed to be having lunch, they got there just in time to save them from being taken

Oh God, what a story! If I could give ten stars I would.
Finally we have Theo and Erin's book. From the clutches of evil Hope McDonald to the arms of his wild Taggart family this book belts along leaving the reader swinging from laughter to tears and onto the thrill of the intriguing backstory. I absolutely would not divulge plot spoilers However the book is a culmination of all the previous MT stories and should be read in order of publication to get the best from the storyline. It is heart warming, with the Taggart family front and centre, the sex scenes are well written and proportionate with a strong D/s element. Lexi Blake delivers far more than anything promised in the blurb.

Another cracker from Lexi - tissues at the ready!
Another fabulous book from the amazing Lexi Blake, finally bringing to a close Erin and Theo's story. It had everything you would expect from a Lexi story - tears, laughter, kink, love, family and friendship. This was a more emotional ride than some of the others, probably the most emotional since Ian and Charlie's book, and has firmly set itself into my top 3. As always, Lexi drops in on her other characters and their lives, keeping you up to date with their comings and goings, but the focus was very firmly on Erin and Theo's journey with perhaps a little less of the others than we're used to. This is not a book you can randomly pick up without having read any of the others, and frankly is all the more rewarding for that. I cannot recommend this series, and this book, highly enough.

Total Recall or not?
Submission is Not Enough by Lexi Blake. 5 out of 5 stars! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! If there's one thing that Lexi Blake can do very well, then it has to be the way she injects so much emotion into her characters that you just have to feel it, sympathise, and return it to them. Although I felt very sorry for poor old Theo, I have to say that there were times that I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or (like Erin did) punch him in frustration! I couldn't help but coddle him a bit myself as he went through all the trauma of regaining his memory after it had been wiped by the evil Doctor Hope MacDonald as he often seemed like a lost little boy. I found that this particular story was often a bit of a tear-jerker as they stumbled their way through Theo's new/old life (whichever way you want to look at it) and examined the flashbacks he had of the way things used to be. I highly recommend the latest installment of the Masters and Mercenaries series, this is a "must-read" and you'd miss out if you didn't!
A terrific book telling the romantic story of Theo and Erin. Theo, who was thought to be dead but was brought back to life, suffers from loss of memory, and Erin, the mother of their child, have to combat many problems before they can fully accept one another, despite the fact that they adore one another. Here is also the secondary theme of the evil doctor, Hope McDonald, who has attempted to wipe the memory of Theo as well as other men. Tracking down this woman is one of the main issues in this story and the many twists and turns in the novel make this task extremely difficult, exciting and dangerous. It is a wonderful book which I thoroughly recommend.

What a story.
This book is even better than the others in this series so far. It must be very hard to maintain the very highest quality when a series runs for a long while without the characters getting stale and the plots beginning to repeat themselves but Lexi Blake manages to do it. This book tugs at your heartstrings. You will need plenty of hankies on standby but it really is worth it in the end. I can't wait for the next exciting tale in this over special series.
