Understanding Submission Grappling Submission Grappling is a dynamic and fast-growing combat sport that combines elements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and other martial arts to create a highly technical and strategic form of competition. As we approach the much-anticipated ADCC 2024, interest in Submission Grappling is at an all-time high.
History- Submission grappling is a martial art that traces its roots far back into both ancient Greece and Japan. Pankration, in the ancient Olympics, was the first combat sport to actively introduce chokes and limb submissions in Western European history. In Japan submissions were a key piece of the battlefield art of the samurai, jujitsu.
Submission Challenge is an independent jiu jitsu tournament offering submission only events for all ages and experience levels. In Addition we are the International Combat Organization official world qualifier event for USA Grappling Team.
Submission wrestling generally refers to any style of grappling that includes submission moves without using a traditional GI. It consists of standup grappling (clinching), takedowns, ground fighting, and submission moves. Catch wrestling and no-gi jiu-jitsu are two of the most well-known.
