Subly ("the app", "we", "us") is built around one principle: your videos and your data stay on your device. This policy explains exactly what that means and satisfies Apple's App Store requirement (Guideline 5.1.1).
1. Data we collect
Subly does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data. We operate no servers that receive your content, and we use no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
2. Your videos and audio
When you choose a video, Subly reads it, extracts the audio, transcribes the speech, and renders captions entirely on your device. Your video and audio are never uploaded to us or to any third party. Exported videos and subtitle files are saved only where you choose — your Photos library or Files.
3. Network use
Subly works offline. It connects to the internet only for: (a) a one-time download of the on-device speech-recognition model (Whisper) the first time you transcribe — this downloads model files only, none of your content is sent; and (b) purchases, handled entirely by Apple's App Store (StoreKit) — Apple processes your payment, we never see or store your payment information.
4. Permissions
Photo Library — used only to let you pick a video to caption and to save your finished video back. Everything stays on your device.
5. Third parties
Subly shares no data with third parties, because it collects none. The only third party involved is Apple, solely for processing in-app purchases under Apple's own privacy terms.
6. Children
Subly collects no data from anyone, including children.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because Subly stores everything locally and collects nothing, we hold no personal data to retain or delete. All app data lives on your device; deleting the app removes it. You can revoke Photo Library access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
