After a court settled in Gaiman’s favor, Marvel Comics purchased the rights to Marvelman from Mick Anglo, in a much more legally binding way than Dez Skinn’s gentleman’s agreement. In 1982, a man by the name of Derek “Dez” Skinn, former editor in chief of Marvel’s UK division, obtained verbal permission from Mick Anglo - that’s the guy who created Marvelman, the knock off of Fawcett’s Captain Marvel - to make new Marvelman stories.
