Here, Jacqueline Frances (aka Jacq the Stripper), a stripper, illustrator, writer, and comedian, shares her best tips for beginners who want to tap into their inner performers.
Frances says this is her no. 1 piece of advice she gives rookie strippers.
“Stripping is a feast for the eyes,” Frances explains. With a striptease, creating physical distance between you and your partner can be really hot. “It’s about taking up space and being sexy all by yourself.”
Frances says being asked to strip in the middle of a room in broad daylight while wearing shorts and sneakers wouldn’t make her feel as sexy as if she had shoes, red lights, and eyeliner. “The ritual of preparing yourself to be the sexpot that you are has transformative powers,” she says.
Frances says while she’s not much of a planner, it’s important to do what’s comfortable for you. “If you need choreography, a rearrangement of furniture, and a playlist to get you feeling ready, set it up. If all you need is a shot of tequila, take one!”
Frances says you don’t actually need to wear a lot of layers to draw out a striptease. “I learned men don’t really care for that; all they want to see [are] your tits and asshole, ideally as soon as possible.” So keep in mind that any extra theatrics are just bonus points! She suggests wearing fabrics that feel good on your body, that you enjoy touching, and are easy to take off (aka not jeans).
Don’t get stressed out about having to detach that awkward lobster claw clasp on your necklace in the heat of the moment. Frances says it’s totally normal to leave your jewelry on while everything else comes off.
Frances says she prefers a simple three-minute song, but your tastes and experiences may differ. “When you’re done teasing and ready to move on, you’ll know.”
If you start feeling awkward in the middle of things, remind yourself that they’re probably just shell-shocked with excitement. “They might be grinning like a fool, and for a moment you’ll be worried it’s because you think you look silly, but trust me: You don’t,” Frances says.
Frances says it’s a faux-pas to do a strip tease for your partner while out at a strip club. “That would be like showing up to a restaurant and bringing your own food: disrespectful.”
Frances says you can stare your partner down and let them know you’re in charge, or avoid it and pay them no mind, so they’re left wanting more.
Frances says it’s easier to strip for men, since they have penises to grind on. “With women, you gotta tend to their mind, body, and spirit to get them turned on.” It’s important to remember that every woman is different and to read her body language to see how she responds to what you’re doing. “Does she like it when you smile? When you’re coy? Or does it make her ache when you waltz around her all bitchy and dismissively?”
Frances says this is the most valuable piece of advice she could ever give.
Frances says she likes to put all her weight onto her hands and then gently squeeze her partner’s thighs, near their groin. “It lets them know I’m in charge but that I’m hungry for them.”
Frances says to face your partner and peel your shirt upward. That way, “your breasts will bounce nicely once the top peels over them.”
Frances says to turn around so you’re not facing your partner and arch your back while you undress so they get a nice view of your butt.
Frances says she likes to use a really sensual voice to ask, “Is this OK?” to check in with her partners and make sure they’re into what’s happening.
Since everyone is different and your partners will all have different buttons and reactions, Frances says a good starting-off point is to trust your own intuition and think about what you’d enjoy if you were the one being teased.
