Here's what to do (and what not to do) next time you're in a strip club.
On an AskWomen thread on Reddit , strippers are sharing their top strip club etiquette tips, as well as disclosing the annoying things they wish customers wouldn't do. Here are three things every strip club customer should know:
"Every girl has different boundaries, you should always ask/communicate with a girl to understand what she is or isn't okay with," said one woman. "My stripper name is the only name you're getting because it's a way for me to safely conceal my identity from potentially predatory men. No you wont get my phone number either, you can look up SO much information about someone just from their phone number. This industry is still underground and largely stigmatized, we have every right to protect ourselves."
It's important for customers to remember the transactional nature of this relationship. The perfect customer, as another commenter put it, is one who says: "I will respect you as a person by offering you money for your labor and skills." She compares the job she does to any other kind of service industry work: "I don't really see a big difference between this and the guy who thinks the girl at the coffee shop is flirting with him. Dude, she has to be friendly, she's at work. Smile, buy your latte, and move on, unless you're going to buy another latte I guess."
One of the reasons men will try to "get to know" a dancer is because they think that will lead to them getting special treatment or some kind of discount. Guys, that is not going to happen. And quibbling over price won't get you very far either. "Don’t ever try to haggle with the dancer over what this money could get you in another club," said one self-proclaimed "veteran" stripper. "Don't harass the waitresses for lap dances either; get a dance from the dancer."
Another stripper has three simple, easy rules that she expects customers to follow: "Pay per song. Ask before you touch. Don’t beg for kisses or oral."
One of the more surprising pieces of information to emerge on the thread was not about how customers act, but what they wear, and what to do in order to avoid embarrassment in the unique lighting. "Make sure you don’t pour laundry detergent directly on your clothes when doing the wash or you look a hot ass mess in the black lights at the club," read one comment. "The phosphors in laundry detergent are essentially black light paint."

A Sunday Mirror investigation reveals the latest seedy show to rock the holiday resort where thousnads of young British holidaymakers are visiting this summer
Half-naked and roared on by a baying crowd, a young woman is dragged on stage to take part in a degrading live strip show.
A topless man covered in spray paint makes a beeline for her, grabbing her from behind and grinding his groin against her in a simulated sex act.
After she removes her bra, he takes hold of her head and forces it down towards his crotch, before standing in front of her with his arms spread wide.
It’s a scene you might expect to see in a seedy backstreet sex club.
But this is one of the most popular holiday nightspots for young British teenagers jetting off to Majorca’s party capital Magaluf.
Just weeks ago the resort’s mayor announced new licencing laws to help clean up the resort after a video emerged of a young holidaymaker performing sex acts on 24 young men in the Carnage club.
And on Thursday, the Balearic Islands Tourist Council drew up a code of behaviour banning drunken youths from entering their hotels and shutting clubs and bars with live sex shows.
The code will target sordid club parties like Car Wash – one of six run by Magaluf Club Pass.
Sunday Mirror investigators attended a Car Wash night just hours before the council met.
We had been shown a video taken at the club months earlier in which naked girls covered in paint had openly performed sex acts on one another.
Our investigators were unsure whether the video had been set up purely to shock – but after visiting the club in the early hours of last Thursday we witnessed a strip scene first hand.
It was shortly after 4am when the woman, aged about 21, wearing a black bra top was lured on stage where the spray-painted male club worker was waiting.
The woman, who appeared drunk and embarrassed, covered her breasts as the reveller began simulating sex acts while leering at the crowd for approval.
One onlooker said: “She seemed very intimidated.” The man later persuaded the woman to remove his shorts before he ended up
