This area is only bars, restaurants and strip clubs that are a cover for brothels and rub and tug parlors. A HUGE sausage fest and the ladies are materialistic and prudish. If you are young and dumb and want to drink and party then this is the place for you.
Try to avoid. Bad for your body and mind. Your spirit will be hurt. Incredible high costs. Pickpockets all over the place. You can't have expected tranquility with undercover cops in every shadowy corner. Last old buildings are non secured for pedestrians.
It is really old town. All very old and interesting buildings, Some are crumbling as the owners can not afford repairs. The good part about old town is the many great bistros and places to eat. Some of our friends dined there and were pleased with the price and quality.
The place to go for food and drink. Plenty of people touting for business. You're spoilt for choice. Just don't go whatever you do to a restaurant called "exclusive" which is the worst service I have ever experienced anywhere in the world!
Easily the most run down Old Town I've seen in Europe. In desperate need of some investment as many buildings are boarded up, others look ready to fall into the street, and the majority of businesses seem to be restaurant/bars catering to people who are there to drink copious amounts of their favorite alcoholic beverage. If you're in town and like old buildings you should take the time to visit, but don't plan a full day for it because you find yourself with a lot of extra time on your hands.
Went to Bucharest for business and ended in old town walking around and viewing all the old buildings and streets. Amazing to see so many old things still standing strong. Lots of restaurants and side bars to stop and visit.
