Scientists have discovered a series of mysterious and seemingly “human-made” holes 1.6 miles (2,540m) below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean — holes that have left them “stumped” for answers.
During a dive on Saturday, NOAA scientists probed the ocean floor at depths of approximately 1.6 miles while visiting the summit of an underwater volcano north of the Azores – an autonomous region of Portugal in the mid-Atlantic.
They used a remotely operated camera to record the perfectly-aligned holes in the seabed. The holes, neatly arranged in a straight line, were observed more than a mile under the ocean surface near the Azores.
According to a post on the NOAA website, scientists attempted but were unable to take a look inside the holes and “poke them” with tools on the remotely operated vehicle.
Scientists were left so baffled by the discovery that they invited members of the public to offer their theories on the origins of the inexplicable holes.

The holes look human-made, but the little piles of sediment around them suggest they were excavated by something,” NOAA Ocean Exploration, which is dedicated to exploring the global ocean, says in a tweet on Monday.
The scientists then call on Twitter users to help them identify the unique indentations, asking “What’s your hypothesis?”
The NOAA received a variety of responses from social media users, from aliens, to an unknown crab species, to gas rising up from below the seafloor.
The Mid-Atlantic Range spans the north-south length of the Atlantic Ocean and stretches for 10,000 miles, making it the longest mountain range in the world and one of Earth’s most impressive geological features. Since most of it sits underwater, it remains largely unexplored and therefore poorly understood.
Scientists previously reported the discovery of similar tracks of holes in the same region in 2003. However, the previous researchers were as stumped as the current NOAA expedition team about their origins and the holes remain a mystery. The current belief, however, is that the holes are “biological in origin.”
“[W]hile scientists are not sure how the holes form, they hypothesize that the holes are likely biological in origin, using the term ‘lebensspuren,’ which translates to ‘life traces,’ to describe the holes,” NOAA writes.

This strange phenomenon was reported in some Russian forests where no cars and trucks can drive… so where no drilling equipment can be brought.
Some adventurers went into these holes. They only found absolute darkness.
The source and the reason of these holes remain a mystery.
Hypothesis ranges from natural sinkholes to samples of earth taken by aliens or mole people. But looking at the horizontal marks around the hole, you clearly see it’s not a naturally occurring phenomenon.
New pictures taken from a hole that opened overnight in Kharkov, Ukraine do not really solve the “mystery” either… But, the trees around the hole seem to be young and have most probably grown after the hole was dug up.
Within the last century, these parts of Russia have been heavily involved in the production of locomotives, airplanes, tractors, turbines, metal cutting machines, and mining equipment easily capable of digging holes this size and even much larger.
So the alien theory would only work if Aliens = working migrants or gulag prisoners :-).
Although many anti-conspiracists will claim that those holes in the ground are old wells, or some company’s drilling test holes where did most of the fill vanish? Rain? Trucks? Come on…
And look what’s happening in the same regions of Siberia, with these huge craters popping up in the molten permafrost.
There is clearly something very strange surrounding these holes and nobody will ever decipher this mystery… probably.
The demons of Hell are beginning to be released.
I wonder if anybody tried to measure depth of these things.
I’m thinking methane bubbles. Big ones. Or perhaps….northern hemisphere cenotes? Maybe the edge of a massive impact crater. Just a thought.
These holes are not from the top down but from the bottom up. Whatever and not whover, created them basically eliminated teh debris as it was manifested. Natural gas extrusion?

I Wish I lived nearby , I would Duct Tape a Flash light Torch to my Mobile Phone or Video Camera & Use Fishing Line to see how far down these things go , and see what the end looks like ? of course I would then use that to compare Measurement I’d love to know more Statistical information about these
