GHF spokesperson Shahar Segal, who owns dozens of restaurants worldwide, is opening a new restaurant in Berlin.

What is the GHF?

The GHF, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, is an American organization established in February 2025, claiming to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza under the full control and coordination of the Israeli military. Humanitarian groups have widely condemned it for violating core principles of aid distribution. 

GHF is a weapon

Since May 2025, the GHF distribution sites have turned into a death trap. At least  583 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers and armed security personnel in indiscriminate mass killings while attempting to access food.

Through the GHF, Israel and the US have weaponized humanitarian aid in Gaza, using it as a tool for mass displacement and the continuous genocide of Palestinians under the guise of humanitarian relief.

The organization provides limited food aid from only four Israeli-controlled distribution sites located primarily in the south of Gaza, forcing over two million starving people into overcrowded militarized concentration zones where dozens are killed daily.

While Israel prevents international humanitarian organizations from entering besieged Gaza, controlling and restricting the entry of food and aid, it backs the operations of the GHF, an inexperienced organization with unknown funding sources. This allows Israel to reject international criticism by presenting the illusion of humanitarian relief, whitewashing the deliberate starvation of over two million people in Gaza.

Pinkwashing the GHF in Berlin

Shahar Segal, an Israeli restaurateur and businessman, is the Israeli spokesperson of the GHF. Since Israel’s genocide started, Segal has worked with the Israeli military to shape its public image. He was quoted in an interview stating: “Since the war began, I've been involved in what the military calls 'influence', some call it advocacy. I call it propaganda”.

While advocating the GHF and whitewashing Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Segal is profiting from selling food around the world. Alongside his partner, Israeli chef Eyal Shani, he owns the global restaurant group "The Better Guys", which operates restaurants worldwide and will soon open a new restaurant called “Gila and Nancy” in Berlin.

The Tel Aviv-based restaurant, named after two pioneering Israeli trans women who passed away, is set to open in Berlin during Pride month. The restaurant’s concept is a cabaret-themed venue that combines gourmet dining with drag performances. 

Once again, the trans and queer community is cynically used to legitimize Israel's crimes. Segal's active complicity in the genocide cannot hide behind trans and queer visibility. 

Stop feeding genocide.
