Stoops to Mississippi State Picking Up Steam
Sports NewswireWith Mississippi State’s firing of Zach Arnett earlier today, talks between Mississippi State and former Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops have reportedly picked up, according to sources.
Stoops is currently the head coach of the XFL’s Arlington Renegades and was the head coach at OU from 1999 to 2016 plus a one game interim stint in 2021. While at OU, Stoops won 10 Big 12 Championships and 1 National Championship (2000). Zac Selmon, Mississippi State’s Athletic Director, was previously employed by OU’s athletic department from 2009 to 2023, minus a 1 year stint at North Carolina. Selmon’s father Dewey, uncle Lee Roy, and uncle Lucious were standouts at OU and are immortalized with on campus statues.
Stoops, Selmon, and the Mississippi State Athletic department were unavailable for comment.
