I have been visiting Awesome Walls in Stoke regularly now for a year as a social climber to get myself fit again and on occasions with my family for a bit of fun. The atmosphere in the facility is very relaxed and the music The staff are fantastic with everyone that walks through their door. I am a professional climbing instructor myself and I have watched their team operate both at novice and advanced levels, groups and individuals. It feels great to be part of something so good and the team could not have been more helpful. I can not recommend them enough. Your experience will be a good and safe one in their hands. My husband, friends and I have been climbing for quite some time and have always found it a struggle to keep going through the winter months. These past winter months we decided to get our act together and we frequent Awesome Walls Stoke weekly for training. The routes are creatively set and I am sure that when I get back out onto the rock in Spring, my skills will have improved greatly. The staff at the centre are friendly and very helpful; in the shop, the cafe and on the walls. It is a very well thought out bouldering centre with slabs, over hangs, the huge cave, traverse walls and dedicated training gym type area. You can hang out there for hours. Pricing is reasonable and in line with other climbing walls in the area of Staffordshire and Cheshire. Awesome Walls Stoke is the most easily accessible climbing centre for me and is only 30 minutes drive from Crewe which is great for week night climbing. Whether you are an experienced climber, complete beginner, currently between climbing partners, out for a good time with your mates, want to get fit or like me, need to keep your climb on through the winter, sheltered from the elements Keep up the good work Awesome Walls! Great place for a boulder, good space, good problems, but would have preferred to have some roped climbing too, not just bouldering. Better than Kilnworx though. An excellent introduction to a new sport. I booked a 1 hour induction for my 11 year old daughter and myself as an effort to get her away from the electronic devices that seem to rule her life and for myself to have a new challenge and get some exercise. The session started with a warm up and some low level traversing and being shown proper techniques for hand and foot placing , then graduated to the main walls where we were shown straight wall, inward lean, inside corner , outside corner and overhang walls. How to spot for your climbing buddy and how to fall off at low level and how to cool down after a session. After the 1 hour induction we were allowed to carry on climbing for as long as we liked. The staff were really friendly and the facilities were clean and tidy. There are lockers available to put shoes , bags and valuables. There is also a viewing area for family members that just want to watch and not climb. Hot or cold drinks and snacks can be purchased from reception, water is free and always available. I really enjoyed my introduction to Bouldering and more importantly so did my daughter , as my wife commented when we got home she had a massive smile on here face. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone and its a great way to get kids of all the electronics and get some exercise, 5 star activity and a great place to learn. We all experienced lots of different types of walls and had a very energetic and enjoyable time. Great place for a fun workout.
