Stephen Colbert’s Late-Night Mischief

One night, as Stephen Colbert prepared for The Late Show, his mischievous side took over. Instead of his usual monologue, he decided to prank his audience.

'Welcome to The Late Show… or is it?' he said, grinning. The cameras cut to a fake set—a low-budget talk show with a cardboard desk and a potted plant as his sidekick.

The audience laughed nervously. Then, Colbert introduced his first guest: 'Please welcome… me from five minutes ago!' A pre-recorded Colbert walked out, waved, and sat down.

'So, ‘Past Stephen,’' Present Stephen began, 'how does it feel to be literally outdated?'

The two Colberts bickered about who was funnier, leading to a fake slap fight. The audience roared.

Just as things got absurd, Colbert broke character. 'Folks, this is why you never give a comedian extra caffeine.' He tossed his cue cards in the air. 'Back to normal tomorrow… maybe.'

And with that, The Late Show rolled on—proving once again that Stephen Colbert was the king of late-night chaos.
