Through the years, we’ve seen Stephanie transform a heck of a lot. In this article, we’ll take a look at her transitions throughout the years.
The daughter of a wacky billionaire, it was quite the challenge for Stephanie McMahon growing up. She admitted that others looked at her differently especially during her earlier days growing up.
She would eventually join the family business in an on-screen capacity in the late ‘90s. It would turn out to be a genius idea from Vince Russo. Stephanie thrived in the spot and never looked back.
Through the years, we’ve seen Stephanie transform a heck of a lot. In this article, we’ll take a look at her transitions throughout the years. We’ll go all the way back to her days as a youth and bring it to her current days.
Enjoy the article and like always, be sure to share it with a friend. Let’s get started!
We start from the early days – long before Stephanie could have fathomed a WWE career. Born in 1976, it was at that time when Vince really started to take an interest in the world of pro wrestling, that year he was the person behind the booking of the Inoki and Ali mega match.
He also found some time to be a father as this throwback pic shows.
Yes, Vince was there for Stephanie – though both McMahon children would admit that dad wasn’t always around – that’s understandable. According to Stephanie, Shane played the role of a father figure for Stephanie, especially early on.
He was very protective of his sister and that would carry throughout their lives.
Slowly but surely, Stephanie was introduced to the world of pro wrestling. During her earlier days, it was common for one of the boys to be hanging around the house.
Some feared the late Andre The Giant while Stephanie labelled the iconic wrestler as her best friend. The two shared a great relationship – that’s especially clear in the throwback pic above.
Vince got his daughter involved early on, one of the ways was through the WWF Magazine back in the day.
Stephanie served as a model for the magazine in the merchandise section. It was her first involvement, little did she know that was only the beginning of a wild career in the business.
By day, Stephanie was the average student at Greenwich High School. However, by night, she lived a wild life in the world of pro wrestling. Of course, she attended several shows – the throwback pic features Stephanie and the late great Dusty Rhodes.
McMahon would admit however, that she was never viewed as a regular amongst her peers during her teen days.
At this point, Stephanie was still in the process of finding her own way. McMahon took the university route, furthering her education. She took to Boston University going off on her own and obtaining a degree in Communications.
The degree served her quite well as the current Brand Ambassador of WWE and perhaps one of the best WWE villains of the 2000s.
Fans know Stephanie has always been the favorite in the family. Eventually, she started working for WWE but not as a character, she was first put in a role at the office.
Stephanie worked as a receptionist for a little while at the WWE’s New York Headquarters – obviously, the position didn’t last too long.
This is an iconic photo, to say the least. As Stephanie mentioned on Twitter, it was her WWE debut;
“#TBT 11/30/98 - 19 years ago TODAY I made my first TV appearance backstage on RAW as an extra w @SteveAustinBSR !” A little later, Stephanie would make her actual debut with the company as a character.
It was Vince Russo’s decision to put Stephanie on the tube. Yes, Russo had several lackluster ideas, though he was right on the money with this one.
Stephanie made her debut as an innocent babyface alongside the late Test. The babyface persona wouldn’t last and she would make a big-time gimmick change shortly after.
Not only did she turn to the dark side but Stephanie also changed her look and wardrobes. Suddenly, the outfits became a lot more revealing, catering to the climate of the Attitude Era.
Behind the scenes, things were just as wild for Stephanie entering a relationship with Triple H, one that was frowned upon at the time.
Following her split with Triple H and after the Invasion angle, Stephanie would step aside for a little bit.
She would later return as the GM of SmackDown, once again, completely altering her look. This was the edgiest version of Stephanie we had ever seen. A lot of that has to do with Paul Heyman who’s using similar tactics on RAW nowadays.
Once her run as the SmackDown GM came to a close, Stephanie would take a hiatus from the company. She had plans to start a family out of the ring with husband Triple H.
She returned briefly in 2005 rocking a completely different look. She showed up at the RAW Homecoming and was confronted by an old foe, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Less than a year later in 2006, Stephanie appeared on RAW, this time looking very pregnant. Of course, she would go on to have three children, all girls.
She played up her pregnancy during the episode of RAW, a classic McMahon move to weave real-life into storyline, though it was all a move to set up Shawn Michaels. Poor HBK!
Finally, in 2013, Stephanie returned to WWE on a full-time basis. McMahon once again joined forces alongside her husband, forming The Authority. The heel faction did a great job especially when it came to enhancing Daniel Bryan’s popularity at the time.
Stephanie really didn’t miss a step, reprising her role as a villainous heel.
She’s 43 at the moment, though some might say she looks her absolute best today. For the time being, Stephanie is separate from the on-screen product, taking a back seat with the rest of her family.
However, she is a lot more active behind the scenes as WWE’s brand ambassador, doing lots of PR work nowadays.
