Stephanie Leffler draws on a wealth of personal experience born from tackling the mountain of challenges that new and growing businesses must face to become successful. Leffler took on her first CEO role at MonsterCommerce, a leading e-commerce storefront solutions company. After spearheading the sale of MonsterCommerce to Network Solutions, Leffler and her partner Ryan Noble started Juggle.com. Leffler served as the CEO of Juggle during the company’s startup phase. After splitting Juggle into three separate businesses, Leffler spearheaded the launch of CrowdSource, which provides managed crowdsourcing solutions.
The heart and driving force behind the idea and reality of CrowdSource is best summarized by a statement made by Leffler at a recent industry event: “Merchants and publishers face a similar set of challenges in the ultra-competitive online landscape. While algorithms elegantly solve many problems, humans are still better and more efficient at certain tasks. This is the first time in history that people’s brains have been networked and allowed to run in parallel. It is the most powerful computing system I have ever seen.”
Throughout the year, Leffler attends and speaks at a number of industry-related trade shows, events and conventions.
Leffler undertook her first CEO role in 2002 as the CEO of MonsterCommerce, LLC. MonsterCommerce was a popular e-commerce solution provider for small businesses. Under Leffler, MonsterCommerce experienced growth in both clients and team members. At the start of Leffler’s time as CEO, the company had only 10 clients; following her departure, the company boasted more than 8,000 clients. In addition, annual sales soared beyond $20 million and the workforce grew to more than 280 employees. Driving the success behind this growth was Leffler’s penchant for creating innovative software while providing exemplary customer service.
MonsterCommerce enjoyed feature stories by national media outlets that include MSNBC, eCommerce-guide.com, Information Week, Entrepreneur.com, Network World Press and Practical Ecommerce.
In addition to national news recognition, the company was honored with a series of awards, including SIIA Codie Award Finalist for Best E-Commerce Software, selection by the St. Louis Commerce Magazine as one of St. Louis’s Top 50 Businesses and recognition by the St. Louis Business Journal as the Fastest Growing Private Company in St. Louis.
Leffler also received distinctions as one of the “30 Under 30” young entrepreneurs to keep an eye on listed by the St. Louis Business Journal. Her entrepreneurial spirit and success was further applauded when she was selected as a 2005 finalist for the Stevie® Awards for Women Entrepreneurs Best Young Entrepreneur award.
Leffler was a driving force behind the acquisition of MonsterCommerce by the industry giant and original domain registrar Network Solutions. Following the sale, Leffler served as President and General Manager of MonsterCommerce, now a company under the umbrella of Network Solutions, for one year. From there, she was promoted to Senior Vice President of Partners and New Sales Channels at Network Solutions, where she stepped into a more expansive role. Leffler stayed with Network Solutions until May 2007.
Leffler and her partner Ryan Noble’s second startup, Juggle.com, came to fruition in early 2008. From its beginnings as an online reference resource, this endeavor evolved into a vast network of websites that covers thousands of subjects. Serving 70,000,000 unique visitors since February 1, 2009, and receiving the St. Louis Business Journal’s distinction as one of the Best Places to Work in 2011, the network of websites now known as ROImedia is a resounding successes.
To support its voracious appetite for quality content, Juggle engineered a platform for crowdsourcing in November 2009. This software, called Scalable Workforce, was used for internal purposes until Juggle productized the software in September of 2010. Seeing the massive opportunity in the Crowdsourcing market, Leffler and Noble spun off CrowdSource in March 2011.
With her new role, Leffler has already been recognized for her skill, wisdom and knack for driving successful startups with her election to the St. Louis Business Journal’s list of the “Most Influential Business Women in St. Louis.” The edition that honors Leffler with this distinction was published in August of 2011.
