Step by step to clean your curtains

Step by step to clean your curtains

Christmas time arrives, and as usual, the house is decorated with the tree, the manger, the wreath on the door, and the lights in the window that should fit well with the curtains. So, thinking that all your decoration is shining and ready for this special date, we leave you some steps to leave your curtains impeccable.

Over time, it is normal for your curtains to become dusty or even stained. This happens because, in most cases, the type of fabric and the colors are light, which makes them get dirty more easily; in addition, since they are exposed to natural wear and tear, that is why we want to explain how to maintain them properly.

Of course! We know that thinking about washing them can be a headache, especially if we don't know how to do it. Wash them in the washing machine or take them to the dry cleaning services? You must choose the appropriate washing program if you decide to wash them at home. That's why at Jelpit, we help you solve doubts and help you with a step-by-step on how to wash your curtains at home.

Cleaning Services

To leave them impeccable and wash them properly, we invite you to follow some of our advice.

Step 1: Take down your curtains

The first thing you should do is unhook your curtains and remove the hooks, rings, or all the elements that can be damaged during washing and that can hurt or break the fabric.

Now that you've taken them down get to work. If you are going to wash in your washing machine, we recommend that you wash the delicate wash cycle or bedding so that the wash is delicate. Let them dry, and voila! Your curtains will be completely cleaning services and free of dust.

Step 2: be careful with the mixture of fabrics and colors.

When washing more than one curtain in the same washing machine, we recommend that you wash them in similar shades, so they do not fade or stain. Usually, you can have light-colored or gray fabrics in your house, so there may not be a problem. If, on the contrary, they are bright colors such as blue or black, check that they do not fade.

Step 3: Check the washing labels

You must check the washing labels or the recommendations of their manufacturers to find out if you can wash them in your washing machine, if you should wash them by hand, or if you may have to leave this task in the hands of an expert because they need to be dry cleaned and with special care.

Step 4: Take care of the colors of your curtains

To keep the colors bright when you wash the curtains, we recommend using a splash of vinegar instead of fabric softener. If the curtains are white, the baking soda will help you keep them radiant. Be careful, and do not forget to look at the washing recommendations on the label of your curtains.

To wash them by hand, follow these steps:

  1. Put your curtains in a large bucket of cold water.
  2. Add a little liquid soap and stir the curtains well to lather well.
  3. Let them soak for an hour, and then give them a gentle scrub.
  4. Dump out the soapy water, rinse them, and then put them in some fabric softener.
  5. Leave them for fifteen minutes, half an hour and to finish, drain them well and put them to dry.
