Statement by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation General of the Army V.V. Gerasimov
A training scenario characteristic for a period of imminent threat of aggression has been set up for inspection.
The event should create an environment for the inspected troops that is as relevant as possible to the content and nature of modern armed combat.
The inspection includes three stages.
In the first stage, the Pacific Fleet transfers to the full combat readiness.
Command and control bodies make decisions on the emerging situation and plan practical actions. At the same time, forces and troops are prepared to conduct control exercises and drills, and to carry out combat training missions.
In addition to assessing the current condition and the organisation of transferring to the highest degrees, the senior commanders of the inspection groups shall pay particular attention to checking the readiness of the forces on duty to carry out their tasks.
It is also necessary to check the on-duty air defence force and aviation units, which carry out tasks jointly and on behalf of the Pacific Fleet.
During the second phase, after being alerted, it is necessary to ensure that the permanent readiness forces are deployed from their base locations to the training areas.
To enhance the air defence system, off-duty anti-aircraft missile battalions of anti-aircraft missile regiments shall march to missile-hazardous areas and take up combat duty. To build up the low-altitude radar field, mobile radar stations shall move to new positioning areas, take on combat duty, and organise transferring of radar information to the on-duty air defence forces.
In the second stage, particular attention shall be paid to the timely deployment of naval forces to the forming-up points, as well as to building up the on-duty air defence forces.
Separately, it is necessary to take control of the sustainability and weapons-readiness of the strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine.
Third stage, in accordance with the decisions made for the use of naval forces (troops) and action plans, shall include practical training of combat missions.
