State-owned operator to obtain Germany's first online casino license

Germany's first legitimate online casino operator is set to grant permission, according to recent casino industry news. State gambling company Totoro GmbH Baden-Württemberg (BW) has already applied for digital casino permits.

Local authorities approved the National Treaty on Games (GluStV) in July 2021, allowing online casino executives to apply for formal permission. But six months after the online casino bill was enacted, the German state government did not announce a single online casino permit. Many virtual casinos are currently awaiting German permission and are in progress. Thus, Lotto BW, the state lottery operator, has the potential to become the first legitimate German online casino.
