Poker hand selection
1. The best hands
AA, KK, QQ, JJ, A-Ks, AK, and A-Qs. s = "suited", playing cards of the same suit, eg. Spades. These are the best combinations. With this, you have to raise or re-raise immediately. Raising or re-raising is important for 2 good reasons. When you play online poker with real money your aim is to get as many chips in the pot as possible because you almost certainly have the best hand. The second important motivation is that you want to get players with less good hands out of the pot.
2. Good hands
10-10, 9-9, AQ, A-Js, AJ, K-Qs, and KQ. These are good hands, but they are not great. Usually, you need help to win. You should also play this group constantly. It's important to get as many people out of the pot as possible, so by raising you to have to force players to fold.
3. Reasonable hands
8-8, A-10s, A-10, K-Js, KJ, Q-Js, QJ, and J-10s.
These hands have potential, but be careful with them. You often get in trouble with these types of cards. Beware of players who have a high side card. You can play them with suited cards, especially in pots with many players.
4. Minimal hands
A-xs, K-10s, K-9s, A-9, 7-7, 6-6, Q-10s, 10-9s, 9-8s, 8-7s, and 7-6s. These are minimal card combinations. You don't win too often with these cards, but they are profitable in the long run because if you hit a good flop, you can win a really cool pot.
5. Bad hands
As an inexperienced player, you should not play any combinations not mentioned above (this includes A8 and 55)! The odds are just too small. You have to be very good at poker to play these hands and turn them into winnings.
