In the last episode before the current hiatus of Star Wars Rebels , we saw Sabine and Ezra's relationship get turned upside down. No longer was Ezra the scrappy "little brother" looking up to Sabine's more worldly and confident persona. This time, Ezra was in charge, and literally had to teach her. That relationship has developed quite a bit this season in particular, as Ezra has grown up considerably in the last two years, now a capable warrior struggling with his own dark side. Sabine, meanwhile, finally revealed her own dark past, and that should change things further as the season rolls on.
"I've said before, she was always the most reluctant member of the Ghost Crew to accept Ezra and his joining the fold. The most skeptical and the most distrustful, just from what's in her nature. Over time, that's obviously changed," actress Tiya Sircar told ComicBook.com in an interview. "She used to call him "kid" and basically get his goat as often as possible. I think that dynamic has shifted quite a bit in that he's a member of the family and she entrusts him with her life on a daily basis. Those matters of trust and all that stuff went out the window a long time ago."
When she had to learn directly from him, as he taught her the basics of using a lightsaber, of course, she was "reluctant at first." That wasn't necessarily because it was Ezra, just because she had to learn at all.
"I don't think Sabine likes to have to learn from anyone or admit that she maybe doesn't know something, particularly in this specific example. We're talking about fighting and swordplay and she's like, "What, I'm going to learn from a kid?" It goes back to that dynamic, but I think as the episode goes on, we obviously see Sabine more vulnerable than we've ever seen her before and probably more than she's allowed herself to be in who knows how long," Sircar said.
Their relationship shifts in that moment, though, because "Ezra treats her with such patience and kindness and love that it makes her realize that she's being petty and she does have something to learn from him." That's a moment Sircar came closer to Sabine.
"I really love the shift in her finally acknowledging that and actually going through the paces with him and allowing him to teach her. I think Sabine's obviously got an ego and I think the fact that Kanan doesn't even feel like he ... In her eyes, she thinks that Kanan feels like she's not even worthy of him teaching her and he gets the kid to do it. That's a bruise to her ego but I think throughout the course of the episode she realizes that those are her own issues and that she needs to get over them."
Her favorite moment was when Ezra stuck it to her a bit, though.
"I really loved that moment when he says, 'At least you have parents to go back to...' That gets me. It gets me good. I think that really puts things in perspective for her."

Jun 23, 2021 - MMORPGs can be a big time commitment, and here are our favorites we've played for dozens (OK, hundreds) of hours.
Star Wars Celebration has given those in attendance the first look at the upcoming Disney+ Ahsoka series and it has teased that live-action versions of Star Wars Rebels' Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Hera Syndulla will be part of the series, and with a mural of Ezra Bridger in the show, there's a good chance he may appear as well.
While the general public will have to wait to see the Ahsoka footage, IGN was in attendance and can share that it begins with Ahsoka on the bridge of the Ghost and she is joined by Hera Syndulla, although we only see her from the back. We also get what appears to be a live-action recreation of the final scene of Star Wars Rebels and get a look at Sabine Wren from the back looking at a mural that includes an illustrated Ezra Bridger.
It was also confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play the live-action version of Sabine Wren. Bordizzo also stopped by Star Wars Celebration and shared a bit about how much this role means to her.
Star Wars Rebels' Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper
“So much I could say," Bordizzo said. "I feel like I’ve just been adopted into a new family. I feel that way about everyone I work with but also the fans. It’s just the most welcoming, creative... I mean, I never experienced anything like this. Set is going really well.
"I know how much Sabine means to many people in this room, and I know how much she means to Dave and I think you guys are going to be really excited about the journey she’s about to have.“
All of these characters were first introduced in Star Wars Rebels and their story will continue when Ahsoka arrives in 2023.
Ezra Bridger was the main character of Star Wars Rebels and was born on Lothal and became a bit of a thief and con artist. His journey would take him to the crew of the Ghost, which also included Hera, Sabine, Chopper, and Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios. Kanan Jarrus was also a member of the crew and would teach Ezra the ways of the Jedi. At the end of Rebels, Ezra was with Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ahsoka and Sabine were getting set to search for him.
Sabine Wren is a Mandalorian warrior and graffiti artist who claimed the Darksaber and used it to rally her people against Viceroy Gar Saxon. She then gave the Darksaber to Bo-Katan Kryze before it was taken by Moff Gideon and then Din Djarin.
Hera was the captain of the Ghost and is one of the best pilots from that galaxy far, far away. Hera and Chopper were both small parts of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine Wren in the Star Wars: Ahsoka series! What does Sabine's return mean for The Mandalorian universe...and Ezra Bridger?
It was basically a foregone conclusion that Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren would eventually make the jump to live action once Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) showed up on The Mandalorian still searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn . After all, when Ahsoka first set out on her mission to find the Imperial villain — and the Jedi friend he’d stolen from her — it was Sabine who joined her on that journey.
Well, Deadline has finally confirmed that, yes, Sabine is back and will be played Natasha Liu Bordizzo ( The Society ) on the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series on Disney+. The outlet didn’t dig up any plot details about Sabine’s live-action debut, but we already know plenty, thanks to the Rebels animated series that concluded in 2018.
You can say Sabine’s return has been years in the making. Dave Filoni, who is writing and executive producing Ahsoka , along with The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau, first set Sabine on her current path in the final minutes of Rebels . In an epilogue, Sabine vowed to help Ahsoka find Ezra Bridger, the young protagonist of the series who was sent tumbling through hyperspace with Thrawn during a final Rebel assault to free the planet Lothal from the Empire. (How that happened is a bit complicated, but we get into that a bit here .)
When Ahsoka made her post-Original Trilogy debut on The Mandalorian season 2 episode “The Jedi” and asked the cruel Imperial Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) about Thrawn’s whereabouts, it implied that she was still searching for Ezra five years after first setting out on her quest. Now that Sabine is also playing a lead role in the Ahsoka series, the continuation of the Ezra storyline is all but confirmed. After Bordizzo shows up on Ahsoka, the next question will undoubtedly be who is playing Ezra? (Full transparency: I stan Rahul Kohli for the role.)
Sabine is a very interesting addition to The Mandalorian universe for reasons other than what she means for the plot of Ahsoka , though. As a former Rebel agent who is also a member of a respected Mandalorian clan, Sabine will likely turn out to be a key player in the on-going drama among the people of Mandalore. Not only did she fight to free her home planet from an Imperial puppet government alongside Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), Sabine is the Mandalorian who first reclaimed the legendary Darksaber after it was lost after the Clone Wars. Once Mandalore was freed, Sabine gifted the weapon to Bo-Katan, making her the leader of the Mandalorian people in the process. Surely, Sabine would now have a thing or two to say about Bo-Katan losing the Darksaber to Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) as well as the sword’s new wielder, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal).
While The Mandalorian season 3 is currently in production, Ahsoka is eyeing a March 2022 production start date, according to Deadline. That likely means we won’t see Bordizzo as Sabine until 2023…unless she’s first introduced on The Mandalorian , which has proved to be a great platform for backdoor pilots for spinoff series, the first of which will premiere on Dec. 29 and star Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
