BREAKING: Star Citizen Surpasses $700 Million in Crowdfunding Amidst Controversy and Delays

Mixed Reactions from Backers

While die-hard supporters celebrate the game’s progress—including recently added features like persistent universe servers, salvage gameplay, and new star systems—others are growing impatient.

'I backed this game in 2013, and it’s still not done,' said longtime supporter Mark Reynolds. 'At this rate, my grandkids will be playing the beta.'

Critics argue that Star Citizen has become a 'forever development' project, with no clear release date in sight. Meanwhile, CIG continues to expand, opening new studios and hiring more developers.

Legal Troubles Looming?

The project has also faced scrutiny over its business model. In 2024, a group of backers filed a class-action lawsuit alleging misleading marketing, though the case was later dismissed.
