About Spotix

Spotix compares two photos of the same scene taken at different times and highlights exactly what changed. It aligns the shots automatically and marks the differences with a clear, animated outline. Everything runs on your device — Spotix works fully offline and does not collect your data.

Getting Started

  • Create a scene — tap the + button and give it a name (for example, “Living room”).
  • Take the first photo — use Capture to shoot the scene, or Import to pick an existing photo. This is your “before” baseline.
  • Come back later and shoot again — a faint “ghost” of the first photo appears in the camera to help you line up the exact same framing.
  • Compare — the newest two snapshots are selected automatically (1 = before, 2 = after). Tap Compare.
  • Review the result — switch between Changes (highlight mask), Slider (drag to wipe between before/after), and Before / After.

Tips

  • Line up your shots — use the ghost overlay and try to match the same angle and distance for the most accurate comparison.
  • Opacity slider — adjust how strongly the change mask is shown over the photo.
  • Documents — for the Document scene type, Spotix can also compare recognized text line by line.
  • Stay organized — group scenes into folders and projects, and revisit every comparison in History.
  • Export & share — save or share the comparison result and the change mask.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The app can't access my camera or photos

Spotix needs permission to use the camera (to capture scenes) and the photo library (to import photos and to save results). If you declined earlier, enable them in iOS Settings → Spotix → Camera / Photos. You can revoke access there at any time.

It says almost nothing changed, or too much changed

For the best result, shoot the “after” photo from the same position and angle as the “before” photo — the ghost overlay helps with this. Big differences in lighting or camera angle can affect detection. You can also use the opacity slider to inspect the highlighted areas more closely.

Do my photos leave the device?

No. All processing happens locally on your device. Spotix has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics, and it works completely offline. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual snapshots, scenes, or comparisons inside the app, or remove the app from your device to erase everything. Because nothing is stored on our side, there is no account to close.

Which devices are supported?

Spotix runs on iPhone and iPad with a recent version of iOS/iPadOS. It is available in 10 languages.
