This spread betting calculator determines the impact of the maximum loss setting on payoffs for spread bets. The calculator is specific to the Australian-licensed spread betting bookmaker PointsBet .
Spread betting is a form of wagering that pays a variable amount depending on the accuracy of your prediction compared to the bookmaker’s spread. This in contrast to fixed odds betting, which pays a set amount if a certain criterion is met. Learn more about spread betting .
Launched in early 2017, PointsBet is currently the only Australian-licensed spread betting operator. Read our PointsBet review .
Increasing the maximum loss level also increases the maximum win level, so you receive a greater maximum potential payout to compensate you for the higher potential loss.
Decreasing the maximum loss level enables you to increase the stake because the balance withheld drops. With a higher stake, you win more money if the bet covers the line by a small amount, however you lose more money if the bet fails to cover the line by a small amount.
Note that many PointsBet markets only offer one risk setting. This calculator is designed for markets where the risk setting can be chosen from a range of numbers (e.g. 8x to 40x).
In PointsBet you can use the slider to change the selected risk level to a setting in-between the minimum and maximum risk levels offered.
If you find any of the above fields confusing, try playing around with various values to see how they impact the resulting calculations.

Free Betting Odds Calculator - A Must Have Tool For Sports Bettors
A bet calculator is an essential tool for sports and horse racing bettors that have ambitions of being successful. There are a number of betting calculators to help you navigate free bets, calculate any type of odds (decimal, fractional and moneyline), implied robability, calculate returns, winnings and double bets.
A betting odds calculator is a simple tool that allows you to quickly convert different types of odds. Decimal Odds (1.80), Fractional Odds (4/5) and Moneyline Odds (-125) are the most common odds formats used around the world that can be converted in a betting odds calculator.
A betting calculator also displays the implied probability for odds across all three common odds formats. This will allow you to calculate exactly how much you stand to profit depending on the stake and odds.
Many online bookmakers allow account holders to use a number of free bets. A free bet calculator is essential for understanding how much money you stand to win using the three main types of free bets which are stake not returned, bet refunds and free money.
Other types of free bets that can be calculated using a free bet calculator are cash back and bonus bets.
'Stake Not Returned' is the most popular form of free bet which is usually offered when you first sign up to an online bookmaker. They can also be used as a promotion for existing account holders.
The key to understanding stake not returned free bets is in the name, namely that any winnings you make on the free bet are credited to your account but the stake is not. A free bet calculator will help you understand exactly how much you stand to win should your bet be a winner.
Bet refunds are commonly available as a promotion for signing up to an online bookmaker. Bet refunds can also be offered as a bonus for existing customers.Β
A bet refund is essentially aΒ  bookmaker giving you your money back if your bet loses and requires minimum odds usually set at 2.00. It can be refunded as cash or bonus bets so always check the terms and conditions for your online bookmaker.
Free money sounds too good to be true and is usually offered by online bookmakers as a signup promotion. It can be extra money in your balance which matches your intial deposit and be shown as bonus balance.
Free money often has rollover requirements attached before you can withdraw any funds from your betting account so be sure to check your online bookmaker's terms and conditions.
Use a free bet calculator so you know exactly what you stand to win or lose when using free money.
An each way bet calculator is most commonly used in horse racing , but it is also a valuable tool in betting on sports such as golf and tennis. Calculate the difference between the win odds and each way which could include top three, top five or top ten.
A horse bet calculator is essential when trying to navigate the world of horse racing which can be held on racetracks in Australia, South Africa, UK or United States. Some of the biggest horse races in the world include the Grand National at Aintree in fractional odds, the Melbourne Cup at Flemington in decimal odds or the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in moneyline odds.
Use a horse bet calculator to understand how the odds work and how to convert them into odds that are used by your preferred online bookmaker.
A bet return calculator is a tool that allows you to calculate how much return, profit or winnings you will collect should your bet be successful. Simply input your stake and the odds and the bet return calculator will do the rest.
A double bet contains two selections, legs or bets that must both win for the double bet to be a winner. Use a double bet calculator to calculate the combined odds and how much profit you will collect depending on your stake and the odds for each leg.
A lay bet means backing something not to happen and is most commonly done through a betting exchange . Use a lay bet calculator to understand the profit depending on odds, risk and commission.
Football is one of the most popular sports on the planet with club competitions such as the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League broadcast all over the world. International football tournament such as the FIFA World Cup are among the most watched sporting events in the world.
