Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom
Plankton (voice) (as Doug Lawrence) …
Squidward (voice) (as Roger Bumpass)
Bubble Buddy (voice) (as Brad Arbell)
There was originally going to be a Squidward robot battle. Although this never happened, there is concept art that you can unlock and one of the pieces depicts what the battle would've been like. The robot Squidward would've had big tentacles that would attack you and you'd have to press switches which would drop rocks on top of them. The robot battle did however get ported on the Game Boy Advanced version of the game. The rehydrated version of the game does feature the Squidward robot battle.
If you press the cruise bubble and bubble bowl buttons on the same frame whilst walking against a flat wall, Spongebob will enter into a state where he slowly moves forward even if you aren't tilting the control stick at all. If you go against a flat surface in this state, Spongebob will slowly drift either right or left. Slightly tilt the control stick in the opposite direction and press both buttons on the same frame again, and Spongebob will move forward much quicker. This is known in the Battle for Bikini Bottom speedrunning community as a "Cruise Boost".
The game opens with the theme song and with SpongeBob outside his pineapple before pressing the start button
The Xbox port has improved graphics.

Came with a book when it said it didn't so that's a bonus. Case is nice in condition and game works fine.

Love this one!!! Brings back good memories of when I lived in the Moorpark house!!

All I ever hear about this game is how amazing it was. I've even met people who state Battle for Bikini Bottom can give Super Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie a run for their money. I was skeptical of such praise but once I found a good deal, I figured I snatch it up. To my surprise, this game lives up to those claims. Battle for Bikini Bottom turned out to be promising game. The graphic are great for its time and it captures the look and feel of the show quite nicely. You select up to three characters (Spongebob, Patrick, and Sandy), all of which have their own abilities and weapons. The world is vast, taking stage ideas from various locations from the show; my personal favorite being Rock Bottom. The controls are greats, you never feel like you have to fight the game in anyway. This wasn't a game that was just mashed together just to rake in money from Spongebob fans, the developers really did indeed put a lot of effort to making this game into an amazing platformer. I say, if you love Spongebob or you're a fan of platformers, this is must buy.

I bought this game for my 6 year old, he has been begging for a SpongeBob game for a while now. I gave it four stars over all only because it was a little tough starting for him. BUT he has quickly figured it all out and after just a few days of playing he has gotten several things unlocked and still has much more to go. He has thanked me a million times for this game. :) Plus....it's cute just to watch him play. Lol. **Update** It's now May 3rd, 2012 and my son is seriously addicted to this game. I had to set up rules about how long and how many times a day he could play. Even though he has been playing it as much as absolutely possible, he isn't even close to done with it! I love all the levels, milestones, and even obstacles in this game. It gets more in depth with each level but with each level my son gets so much more excited. And major bonus: It's still adorable to watch him play it. ^_^

I know its more my fault then anything, but i bought this game not knowing that the sellers are out of the UK, so now i cant play it on my american tv and ps2. Thats okay thought cause otherwise, the game came in great condition and was very cheap, so i can recommend these guys as long as you live in Europe.

When I first got the game I was a little worried but once I insert it into the console it works perfectly like brand new.

This game is so amazing. If you like 3D Platformers, or if you just like Spongebob, this is the game for you. This game has so much faith to the source material, the music is amazing, and the gameplay is so solid and fun. Small thing, if you have watched the show, you will notice Mr. Krabs And Mermaid Man have different voices. But it’s not too much of a big deal. Overall this game is amazing and I’d highly recommend it.

a good game for kids, a good character that gives them fun and hours of play is pretty good, I recommend it

Bought this game for my 9yo for his birthday. He absolutely loves playing it and is his new favorite game!

This game was a decent platformer back during it's original release when the genre was at it's peak in terms of releases. The problem today is that the overall game design feels very outdated. The updated graphics are nice and the controls are on point for the most part. The game is actually quite difficult though for a game revolving around a kids cartoon. Don't buy this expecting an easy going experience for your child. If you're a die hard fan of the cartoon, whether an adult otle kid, then it's probably worth a try. It's certainly better than the majority of SpongeBob games previously released.

I’ve played the original 2003 game ever since it first came out and I haven’t stopped since. It was one of the few “reasons” why I even still have my old Nintendo GameCube around. This reboot is so much better than the original. The graphics are much better and more modern looking. There’s quite a few tweaks that improve the gameplay, for example Patrick can now destroy things in midair, which he couldn’t do in the original and the areas where you have to “pay the toll” in order to access don’t require so much of a toll as they used to. Plus there’s a whole lot more shiny objects (aka currency) scattered around than there originally was. There’s also some tweaks that make it more challenging, for example the countdown timers for pretty much everything count down much faster so you have to move very quickly. Also, when you’re swinging on lasso hooks as Sandy, you have to press AND HOLD, whereas in the original, you only had to press a button once. So it’s definitely more challenging and you have to rethink your strategies. But when it comes to completing missions such as getting the golden spatulas and finding Patrick’s socks, they’re ALL still in the EXACT SAME PLACE as they are in the original, so that’s easy to remember. There’s also great new features, such as multiplayer mode and there’s a brand new boss robot, a robot Squidward to fight in the Chum Bucket after the robot SpongeBob, which was cut from the original game. As I said before, if you loved the original game, you will love the reboot even more. 10 out of 10!

Like so many people, I grew up loving the original Battle for Bikini Bottom on PS2 and was excited when they announced they were remaking it. Having recently played through the entire remake, my overall conclusion is that they managed to capture the spirit and essence of the original platformer. The game looks incredible; it's vibrant with colors (if slightly oversaturated) and the characters move well. It's not 100% faithful; some of the textures and backgrounds are a little different but they kept most everything that matters the same. The thing that shocked me, however, is how buggy the game is. There are issues with the character's dialogue and a few other gameplay bugs. It wasn't a make or break issue overall. However, that, combined with the multiplayer mode, forced me to bring the review down to 4 stars. Guys, the multiplayer mode is BAD. Shockingly so. "Half-baked" is the best way to describe it. I had heard how terrible it was before playing it, and I still ended up disappointed. I was so looking forward to playing as Squidward but his fighting moves were terrible. Not to mention that the entire multiplayer mode is a "fight the enemies in waves" type, and there are around 26 stages. TWENTY SIX repetitive stages. The entire thing was ridiculous. So, the battle multiplayer mode and bugs aside, I still think it's worth checking this out if you loved the original game or if you're a fan of Spongebob. I'd love to see a remake of the Spongebob movie video game, hopefully with fewer bugs.
