Communities > Women's Health > Ejaculation in my anus

My husband and I have been together for a few years and we have started practising anal sex.
Recently he has started to ejaculate whilst still inside my anus.
We are not sure if this can cause any issues or health problems. I have heard it can lead to Irratable Bowel Syndrome but I cant find anything to back that up on this website.

Can you please help to identify if this could be seriously detremantal to my health?

Sex and love can be messy, and whether or not you're in a committed relationship, one advantage of using condoms is that it keeps things clean in the aftermath (literally!). Condom use should always be encouraged until all partners have been tested for STIs and given a clean bill of health. Once you're past that, the good news is that semen is safe and simple; containing mostly water, fructose (a type of sugar), secretions from the prostate, testicles, and glands, and of course, sperm. Although some people can be allergic to their partner's semen, most don't have any bad of reaction to it, and ejaculated semen is harmlessly absorbed into the receiver's body. If you are still worried about the risks of ejaculation into your anus, you might want to discuss it with your fiancé to figure out alternatives to this, such as using a condom only for anal sex, or having him pull out before he ejaculates. Keep in mind that semen may still come out of his penis while he is inside you, though there won't be as much of it. As long as you're both free of infections, there is really no harm in having your fiancée ejaculate during unprotected anal sex. There is also nothing wrong with going to the bathroom to get the semen out after the deed is done, although it is not necessary.

MY man ONLY ejaculates in my anus, we’ve been doing this for about 3 years now only problem I had is my buttholes a lil looser, but that’s just anal girlfriend!!

I've been having anal sex with my husband in forever. Even while pregnant I had anal sex up to 8month. No health risk whatsoever and I still had a healthy 4kg baby.

My husband and I have been having anal sex for years and he's always ejaculated inside me. With the exception of right after sex, I don't have  irritable bowel and have never heard of anyone getting it as a result.

I am no expert though. I make my observations based off of my own experience and what I've discussed with others.

I guess I should explain that I am very open about my sexuality with friends, and even some aquaintences if given the right amount of alcohol. I've discussed anal sex with many people and usually the first response by is the reasons why they haven't tried or why they don't like it.  Irritable Bowel has never been a reason that was brought up.

Same here. Except I do have IBS and I can tell you that my irritable bowel syndrome was not caused by anal sex nor does anal sex cause the symptoms to flare up. If anything, my only issue is that I hate when the irritable bowel symptoms flare up and prevent me from being able to enjoy great anal sex. I am female and truly enjoy it with my husband, however we only do it once or twice a month. Neither of us have had any negative issues as a result from anal sex and have been together for 7 years.

I have read they there is medical evidence that women who practice anal sex have a greater likelihood of contracting colon cancer.

This is Very True. My Aunt died from Colon and Breast Cancer. Her Doctor told her the Anal Sex contributed to her contracted Colon Cancer.

Men in several cases develop prostate issues in time due to introducing fecal matter to the prostate via the penis

I do not think so. although I never did it.

Im a man but i can tell you the sperm should evacuate but if you want try getting a hydrocolonic. That will clean it out.

If you go to the bathroom after or for your first bowel movement it will come out mainly then.  Then take a shower and clean yourself properly and everything should be back to normal.

i have never heard of this causing any problems.but i have read that sperm is a natural mood enhancer for women.

1. Easing depression and stress
Bass says this is pretty definite. “The release from orgasm does much to calm people. It helps with sleep, and that is whether we talk about solo sex or sex with a partner,” she says.

But wait, there’s more. A recent study of college students at the State University of New York in Albany suggests that semen acts as an antidepressant. Females in the study who were having sex without condoms (see safe sex caution, above) had fewer signs of depression than women who used condoms or abstained from sex.

“These data are consistent with the possibility that semen may antagonize depressive symptoms,” the authors wrote, “and evidence which shows that the vagina absorbs a number of components of semen that can be detected in the bloodstream within a few hours of administration.”

I kid you not, ladies. Semen is good stuff. It gives a shot of zinc, calcium, potassium, fructose, proteins -- a veritable cornucopia of vitality!

Anal sex can introduce various diseases into your rectum and also cause hemorrhoids. These can cause a lot of pain if not more serious problems. I really don't think anal sex is a great idea for women.

For some people, anal sex is their -thing.  They enjoy it and that's fine.  As long as they are hygienic about it to minimize things like transference of feces to the urinary tract, then it doesn't harm them.  If someone is uncomfortable with it, they should not do it, to that I definitely agree.

it can cause problems. Be very careful. Also if you have HPV it cannot be tested for in men. Most men have it at some point. It causes anal cancer. good luck.

SPERM does NOTHING to enhance a woman’s mood. Absolutely NOTHING.  Now an orgasm can help reduce stress. In the moment.  Maybe for a little bit after HER orgasm too. But it’s a pretty temporary relief of stress.  Ur orgasm and depositing sperm in her will do nothing for her mood.  She may feel happy that she made u feel good. But that’s about it mood wise.

I remember reading questions about anal sex to Dear Abby in the late 1960s when I was 12 years old. As usual, her answer was wise:  as long as you both enjoy it, it is no one else’s business what you do.

That said, 1.) use plenty of water-based lubrication. The vagina has 14 layers of muscle while the anus has two layers and is easily torn. 2.) Any pain whatsoever halts all movement and readjust. 3.) Semen causes no problems when ejaculated anally. 4.) Anal bacteria is very bad for vaginas. Wash penises and digits before reinsertion from anus to vagina. Better yet:  think ahead and use condoms or go vaginal first and anal last.

One of the reasons anal sex feels so good is because the penis rubs the G-Spot in women and the prostrate in men. It can be orgasmic.

Women’s orgasms, regardless of methods used, does enhance mood, increase blood and oxygen flow to the brain, which also helps body and mind. Sperm is a source of protein, fat, and trace minerals. The orgasm is the star here. If the only reason your mood is enhanced is because you helped your partner get off, you obviously are not having the orgasm you deserve. Help yourself and tell your partner that you deserve a great orgasm and you’re going to let them help and then work together.  If he or she is not willing to work to help you get there, it’s time for new partner.

Wow well said. Having lived through the 70s which was a very sexually active time for me, trying just about everything I worry a lot about the HPV virus. Because of anal sex and multiple partners. That being said I sure wish I could find one now (a partner) I think it would improve my outlook immensely.

A rare complication from a catheter might have made this man ejaculate through his anus for two years.
ORIGINAL REPORTING ON EVERYTHING THAT MATTERS IN YOUR INBOX.
A man spent two years nutting out of his butthole before seeking help, in a case that perplexed and impressed researchers.
In a study titled “ A Curious Case of Rectal Ejaculation ,” published last month in the Cureus Journal of Medical Science , a team from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston describe a patient who sought out treatment after five days of pain in his balls—and two years of "a substantial amount" of semen shooting out of his rectum.
When the 33-year-old man went in for a CT scan of his pelvis, doctors saw that he had a rectal-prostate fistula, a rare condition where the body develops a hole that connects the rectum with the lower urinary tract and creates all kinds of problems (like shit in one's piss and vice versa). In this man's case, the hole created a new passageway for his sperm to travel; instead of flowing out of his dick, as he might expect, it took a hard left out of his anus.
Fistulas like these are usually caused by trauma, chronic urinary tract infections, surgery, or cancer. This patient had an extended hospital stay two years ago, just before his problems began, where he was placed in a medically-induced coma to recover from a cocaine and PCP overdose. The researchers on this study hypothesize that an improperly-inserted catheter during his hospitalization could have caused the trauma to his urinary tract, and created the fistula.
His doctors were able to patch the hole with surgery and he made a full recovery. Although it's a super rare complication to catheters, the researchers wrote that their case "not only highlights a rare complication of catheter use but also emphasizes the importance of provider mindfulness when utilizing seemingly benign therapies" like catheters. It's also probably a good idea to see your doctor immediately if you start cumming out of your asshole.
