I understand that some folks get annoyed at all the venting on this thread. For the most part, I have stopped listening. But when you try to go back to WFAN hoping to hear some actual sports talk and you get this disgusting stuff instead, it's disappointing. For 20 years, I used to be able to have the FAN on all day as background while I worked from home. Now I can't even stand it for 5 minutes. It's the end of an era and some folks (like me) are upset so we come here to rant a bit. Some day when you're older and they take away a favorite past time, you'll understand.

Exactly WFAN is an institution in my eyes, first and WAS best sports radio station in the country. Now I'm not sure it's best in the city and 98.7 isn't great either.
I'm only in my 20's too but it's not hard to do decent sports talk, some of the over night and weekend hosts are capable. But the daily shows from 6 AM - 7 PM consistently miss the mark for me
Judging by the recent ratings maybe it will make the station change a bit since Kay absolutely destroyed Carton in the afternoons. Also, ESPN’s morning local show is picking up steam since they dropped, IMO, their liability of a 3rd host.
ESPN does it somewhat right. They aren’t 100% sports talk and they’ll fool around but when it comes time they know they are a sports show first. If they actually got someone smart to run that station and stop with national shows in NY they’d be destroying FAN
Even as recently as 2016-18 it was better! The fan got me through many car rides home from commuting to college and work. I used to have it on as background noise playing from my laptop.
But it’s all gone. It’s disgusting, frat bro nonsense.
I remember one time recently I had exhausted all my podcasts new episodes. I thought let me just try, to put the FAN back on.
I turned it on, and it was al dukes talking about vaginas. Turned it off immediately and deleted it from my car’s pre set stations. Such a shame

Haven’t had WFAN on during the morning ride since. I understand that it would be prudish to expect no genitalia talk on an all-male sports show, but I really don’t want to hear about you children’s genitals.
Law of averages - there have to be people who are better at this than him. I get the "morning show" aspect, but for crying out loud can we just not have that crap be part of the "act?"

I just wish the whole station would do more pure sports talk radio. It doesn't need to be Francesa esque and I know most of the teams suck rn, but I can listen to other talk radio stations, I want sports talk on WFAN
I thinks it’s time to fire Gio and bring back Carton and Boomer together. Boomer has a dominating personality that can keep carton in check. Evan is too passive for Carton. So I say dump Geo bring back boomer and carton and a 2 o’clock do Evan and maybe Sal Lacata or someone.

If you don’t like “The View” for the content, you don’t watch it right? Why is it any different? It’s not like there is one station in America or even NY for that matter that talks sports.
WFAN has been my go to for 25 years - I take breaks from it and recently returned to..well, fairly poor quality. I haven't made the decision "not to watch" yet, but I agree with your sentiment.
I mean that's why Evan and Carton got shelled in the ratings this past month. The station will be making changes pretty quickly if things don't turn up. The new boss has no allegiance to anyone at the station.
